Fantastic hotel and very well priced. When we stayed the pool and spa was not operational so each time we wanted to swim we went to the concierge and were wisked 30 minutes across the city in a Merc to their sister hotel and then telephoned when we needed to return ( no charge). Wouldn`t stay anywhere else.

Weekend break with the lady in Budapest turned out to be one of my better decisions. The hotel was superb from the moment we arrived and staff could not do enough to help and guide us around the town. We had room 5310 which was very quite, spacious and comfortable.

The bars in the hotel were stocked with every drink known to man and the bar staff take great delight in parting their obvious knowledge to take you on a world tour.

Budapest was beautiful in the sun, a trip to the Grand Palace a total must but you need to walk every where as so many hidden bars and cafes.

The hotel offered ok value for money but with the spa and a breakfast to die for a few extra Huf's went a long way. Out and about prices were very reasonable and shops enjoy a good haggle.

In short hotel superb, Budapest very romantic and fun

Wonderful hotel, wonderful staff, very good location.

I will concur with others before me- the executive club is a very nice touch to have and one that was missed at each hotel after the Corinthia! It is very nice to be able to have a light bite or a drink at your leisure.

You really must check out the spa also- they provide a locker, bathrobe, and sandals. The pool is a setting that I have nothing to compare it too, but it certainly is beautiful and grand feeling.

I have exactly one complaint about my stay: coffee! They just aren't used to people wanting more than one small cup, and they're clearly not even in tune with the concept of offering you a refill! Not a problem with the executive club- you could just stop on your way back to the room and get a nice pressure brewed second cup.

It was head and shoulders better than the two other hotels I stayed at during the same vacation- Le Meridien in Vienna, and the King's Court in Prague. One note- locals don't seem to know the hotel as "The Corinthia" but as the "Grand Royal" or some other combination, and this caused slight confusion both times we caught a cab back to the hotel.

I stayed in Corinthia Grand Hotel Budapest with my son in May for 3 nights. We chose the nice bargain in Royal Apartments. Therefore, we had 96 squaremeters for the two of us: own bedrooms with private toilets, fascinating living room etc.
From the first step out of the taxi (with a bit rain) the service was extraordinary. This stay - even with heavy wind and a lot of rain - was a success because of this hotel. If you are active in using public transportation - there is a tram in front of the hotel as well as good connections to the metro station. Even to take a taxi to the hotel was worth doing with the Zona taxi: to go back to the airport it was only 3600 forints, if you show the "return ticket".
Close to the hotel, if you don´t want to make any long walks, you can choose the restaurants of the Franz Liszt square.
The spa is for under 16 year olds, therefore, it is very relaxing as well. We really recommend this hotel if you get an economical option as we did this time via Booking.

I have travelled a fair bit, for business and leisure and I was still blown away by the Corinthia Hotel (Grand Hotel Royal) Budapest. It has retained the traditional features of the Grand Hotel Royal, whilst bringing the decor up-to-date. The hotel is pristine and the staff were amazing especially Aniko, Szusa and Zoltan. We were upgraded to a suite which was outstanding with two bathrooms and got to use the Executive Lounge as part of the Executive package - separate check-in with champagne, separate lounge and dining room for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and cocktails and drinks throughout the day. The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Budapest and the staff on the concierge desk were the most helpful and well informed when it came to advising where to go, what to see and where to eat. We hope that all the Corinthia Hotels are of the same standard as we hope to try the London one which is due to open this Autumn and may be the one in Lisbon too. The hotel also has a beautiful pool and spa area which we didn't have time to use, but I will ensure when we visit again that we do.

Due to the volcano and the closing of the airport in Budapest, we were forced to extend our stay from two nights to six. We booked the hotel at a discount rate which had expired, but the hotel generously extended our stay each night at the same rate as we awaited the reopening of the airport. We had plenty of time to explore Budapest, sample the dining fare at the hotel and enjoy the sites. What could have been an ordeal was a pleasure.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
