I have visited this hotel as a participant of workshop in June 2010. Very shortly I can say about this hotel - good job from staff :-) very comfortable hotel, great conference facilities, very good location. Everything was good, just restaurant for breakfast was a bit small for a large group, as we were.

We booked this hotel for a three night mini break for Valentine's Day. We booked a superior double B&B room but we were delighted to be informed on check in that we were being upgraded to a suite room. The manager came down to reception to greet us and told us that the hotel upgrades one booking every day which we thought was a very nice touch.

The room was very nice and comfortable with a wonderful view from the balcony overlooking the bustling street. Breakfasts were excellent with a great range of traditional and continental foods and there was even a chef making omelettes to order. The restaurants looked very nice even though we ate away from the hotel in the evening. We would also recommend the small cake shop attached which served wonderful pastries and hot drinks and there was a pianist as well in the evenings.

Staff were very helpful and always attentive. The concierges were well-informed and were happy to book us a table for Valentine's evening and housekeeping was very high standard.

The hotel is centrally located and is only about 15 mins walk from the train station. Most of the main sites in Budapest are within walking distance as well, however there is a tram stop immediately outside the hotel (tickets can be bought in hotel souvenir shop).

Budapest is generally quite cheap with lots of nice local beers. We went to Karma and Pesti Vendeglo restaurants and ate very well with good friendly service. All in all, this is an excellent hotel to use as a base to explore this interesting city. We thoroughly recommend it.

5 ladies celebrating a 50th would highly recommend The Corinthia for a long weekend! Pay the extra for Executive Club as superb value with food & drinks freely available from early until late & staffed by an excellent friendly team who will exceed every request (particularly for drinks!) Spa lovely & treatments good value. Great central location with choice of good public transport or reasonable stroll to various sights & shopping & social. Warning on taxi front - we were ripped off by 'private' cabs picked up from rank in town... check tariff before getting in & watch clock as concierge advised sadly quite common (Taxis oranised by hotel entirely different) Rooms clean & comfortable (if roastingly hot) with nice bathrooms but complimentary toiletries a bit basic.

I've travelled a lot for both pleasure and work and stayed in some really excellent hotels - but this has to be the best!
From the moment that we arrived until the moment that we left, we could not have wanted for more. An excellent hotel, great staff and perfect for our 4 days in Budapest.
If you ever want somewhere perfect for a few days - this is it.

Went to Budapest for a short break (3 nights) and had a fantastic time. The hotel was simply amazing- one of the best we have ever stayed in. We got a half price deal off booking.com which made this really good value.

The hotel has its own spa which all (adult) guests are free to use. The hotel also has a really cool effect inside. If you want a luxury hotel that will really impress your partner then I would strongly recommend this. Staff and service was also excellent, apparently this is not always a given in hungary but the staff here were always friendly and keen to help. When we realised our travel adaptor didn't work they found us another one at not cost (small deposit) within a few minutes. They are prepared to go out of their way to help you and didn't moan about us asking them to take photos of us around the hotel!

The spa treatments are really good and would recommend these. The hotel also has a number of really nice restaurantas within walking distance or in other cases a short taxi ride away. Taxis are cheap in Budapest. The Széchenyi Natural Thermal baths were not too far away and well worth a visit.

A truly 5 star experience!

Stayed there for a birthday celebration, got upgraded to a suite which was a nice touch; room was very nice, overall the hotel is very stylish and the renovations were well done. Spa is quite nice and the pool area amazing. Service was very friendly, always accommodating and a big smile on their faces! Room Service was not up to par for a 5 star hotel, food was barely average and service was terrible. Asian restaurant is a must do, awesome service, plenty of high quality food and the atmosphere is very soothing.

The service was excellent from the moment we arrived to the hotel to the moment we left.

We took the executive room and it was really wort it. With the executive package you get access to the special lounge area with was really nice. In the lounge there are snacks and drinks.

Another good thing was the hotel's own spa. The Spa was of excellent quality and it was really nice to relax there.

The only bad thing about the hotel was that is was quite a long walk away from the shops and sights (except from the House of Terror).

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
