The challenge was to find an affordable hotel that could accommodate five adults (one aged 87) and two older teens comfortably. The solution: Adina Apartment Hotel. After looking for other apartment options, I saw this listed on TripAdvisor and read the reviews. The price was right--about $200 per night each for two two-bedroom suite.
The location is not in the heart of the city's action or attractions, but the neighborhood was pleasant enough and a short walk to the metro and an inexpensive cab ride anywhere. One afternoon we did walk from the Dohány Street Synagogue to the hotel, along the Danube. It took us a little over an hour.
Rooms were contemporary and pleasant and very clean. The suites included full (for Europe) kitchens, which as great for breakfasts and for the couple evenings where we felt like getting take-out food or eating hors d'oeuvres with drinks. The suites also came equipped with small washers but no dryers.
There was a well equipped fitness facility with an indoor lap pool, all of which were clean and in good maintenance. We realized too that this was nearly identical to the Medina Grand Harbourside Hotel in Sydney (where we stayed in 2003) and then noticed that they are affiliated hotels.
This was as ideal of a place for our needs, and the service was courteous and friendly.
