The challenge was to find an affordable hotel that could accommodate five adults (one aged 87) and two older teens comfortably. The solution: Adina Apartment Hotel. After looking for other apartment options, I saw this listed on TripAdvisor and read the reviews. The price was right--about $200 per night each for two two-bedroom suite.

The location is not in the heart of the city's action or attractions, but the neighborhood was pleasant enough and a short walk to the metro and an inexpensive cab ride anywhere. One afternoon we did walk from the Dohány Street Synagogue to the hotel, along the Danube. It took us a little over an hour.

Rooms were contemporary and pleasant and very clean. The suites included full (for Europe) kitchens, which as great for breakfasts and for the couple evenings where we felt like getting take-out food or eating hors d'oeuvres with drinks. The suites also came equipped with small washers but no dryers.

There was a well equipped fitness facility with an indoor lap pool, all of which were clean and in good maintenance. We realized too that this was nearly identical to the Medina Grand Harbourside Hotel in Sydney (where we stayed in 2003) and then noticed that they are affiliated hotels.

This was as ideal of a place for our needs, and the service was courteous and friendly.

This aparthotel is in a fairly non-descript area but it is quiet and only a 10 minute stroll to the main station. The apartments are fab, and the service brilliant - it was my birthday and they helped me to celebrate the day with their kindness! Nothing was too much bother for them and the staff offer excellent advice on the city. I would definitely recommend this to families, couples and business folk. Great leisure facilities too. Thanks to the lovely apartment it really added a bit of class to our hols. Thanks Adina!

There were 7 of us in all, so we booked two 2-bedroom suites, each with a separate living room, dining room and full kitchen. The price was about $210 per night per suite, which I thought was quite reasonable for the quality of this hotel. We had 3 people in one suite and 4 in the other.

The hotel is modern and serves a business clientele--similar to Courtyard by Marriott in the US, and this is actually part of a chain of hotels headquartered in Australia, with 2 other European properties: Copenhagen and Berlin.

The desk staff are professional and provide full concierge services, booking taxis, tours, reservations at restaurants, bringing up buckets of ice to your room, etc.

Although it is not located in the main tourist district in Buda or in the shopping/museum district in Pest, those are easily and quickly accessible by subway (about $1.50 each way) which has a station 5 minute walk from the hotel and is extremely simple to use, or by taxi. [Note on Budapest taxis--ALWAYS phone for one since the price is drastically lower, insist on the meter being used, drivers expect tips. Adina uses City Taxi, and I phoned them repeatedly from my cell and they knew me by name after recording my number from my first call. We never waited more than 5-10 minutes for them to arrive.] Airport taxis have a fixed rate--about $25.

Some members of our group used the fitness center and said it was adequate, and there is a large indoor swimming pool. We did not sample the breakfast they offer, as it was rather expensive--not included in the room rate.

Suites had a European style clothes washing machine--the single unit type that washes & spins but does not totally dry your clothes. However, Adina provides a drying rack, so this worked well for us (as seen in the photo).

There are convenience stores nearby for food and alcohol, and Budapest's largest indoor shopping mall is a 10 minute walk, and has a major supermarket, a food court with dozens of restaurants of every ethnic variety (including American fast food), etc.

The Danube River is only a 10 minute stroll as well. The neighborhood is safe and generally clean--primarily residential, and it looks middle class. Nothing especially interesting architecturally in this area--drab apartment buildings. But I doubt you can obtain as much room space for the money in the upscale areas of town, so I considered this a real value.

Surprisingly, though, it does not offer free high speed internet service. It does have a business center that provides internet access on a single computer for a small fee.

Very good apartment hotel in budapest. Very large rooms, spacious, with all the modern amenities you could need for a vacation or a business tour.
There was a swimming pool, nice place to relax and a gym also(though i didn't use it).
The breakfast is nice and has a lot of choice.
The only concern is the location.
Located near the Lehel Ter metro station in the blue metro line.
Although the West End city centre but the area becomes very dark and lonely at night.
Hence i didn't like the place.
But i'll give a 5 star to the hotel and the quality of the services

We spent holiday last summer in July 2008 in Budapest, and this hotel was really a good choice! Especially with children (5, 7 and 13 years old) the rooms were perfect! We had two bedrooms, living room and kitchen, very modern, large and much place. There were also a dishmaschine and washmaschine! The best thing with the children was the swimmingpool and the whirlpool and also the sauna. There is also a nice terrace with sunbeds, and nice garden with a litlle bar.

This hotel is not quite in centrum, but with metro it is easy to get to the city.

We stayed in a two bedroomed apartment in Nov 08 and we thought it was absolutely fantastic. It was VERY spacious with three balconies, two bathrooms, lounge, dining room and FULLY kitted out kitchen. The staff were delightful in every way. Very impressed!

Rooms are very big and very comfortable, lounge bar and gardens are good also. Swimming pool is great to relax in and gym looks good but didnt use.

Breakfast is good with plenty of choice, only critism is coffee is out of a machine and not great. Staff are great and helpful.

However, if you ask for a reastrauant recommendation then it will be the Kandar, which is the place where the room service is delievered, food there is ok and if you have just arrived ok, but better places and cheaper are avialable.
