The room we had was very big had a large kitchen-dinning room facilities, bedroom very comfortable, nice well sized bathroom, room was overlooking the Gellert Hotel, only 5 seconds from room, great locations for all restaurants and bars, and only 10 mins from Vaci Street.

Really enjoying our stay here. We have a nice cool cozy room in the basement level of this lovely apartment hotel. We have a small fridge, two burner stove and the beautiful garden of a stately home to enjoy. It's a short walk to large market and several unique eating places. It's also close to the river which in itself is fascinating to walk by at night with all the river traffic all lit up. Such a unique treat for this Canadian!

We had a really large room with a massive bed and a small single bed. The mattress was super comfy (Swiss dreams - I checked!) There was a fridge and tv and sink as well as a safe (no key so assume we should pay to use it) in the room too. The bathroom can't really be called a private bathroom as it was solely ours but the neighbours had to go through the shared corridor to get to their room so no nuddy runs allowed - there was no room for getting dressed or undressed in there so watch out for the neighbours. There is no pool (booking.com says there is) and on booking.com would also indicate that children are free/included in what you are quoted. They aren't and they charge €10 per night! That being said, the room was spotless, and the location perfect for city sightseeing. The owner has 2 young children and they can be heard running about and occasionally crying in the morning. This didn't bother us as we have a child so are used to It, but it very likely could bother some - sounds like little elephants running about above you at 6 in the morning. Finally, we had them organise transport from the airport to the hotel - it cost €25 But conveniently, the driver had no change when all I had was €30! This isn't the hotels fault but worth noting that if you have them organise a driver, have the right money ready just in case. There is no reception area/desk to get help from but Esther was around on the last day to ask if we needed any transport to the airport.

Quite difficult place to rate. We have chosen it for its location, very close to the city, and that was definitely great choice. It's great value for that. However, at first glance, we were a bit disappointed - we ordered a "garden view apartment" - which turned out to be quite old fashioned room located in a basement (can feel that you got fooled, when you look at the photos of the building...), definitely asking for some renovation. The service was also a bit strange - I felt more like renting a flat, not staying at pension. The receptionist (owner?) was good person, we had couple nice conversations, but it didn't give me the "hotel impression" at all.

Our "apartment" was rather small (to a point where you couldn't open the bathroom door because it was hitting the bed), dark, and quite "rough". With each day, however, we were getting more used to it and started appreciating that - in the end, we booked the room not to spend entire days in there, but just to come back to after all day hiking. And for that, it served its purpose well - we weren't missing a thing. It was calm, quiet, also room service was there every day.
Its convenient location, low price and "low-key" character are definitely the advantages. If you are looking for that, you won't be disappointed. Just do not expect much comfort and fanciness - even though the photos may give you such impression.

We stayed at the Kalmar Pension over New Year's Eve. Its a family business so we didn't expect much in the way of service. We were mistaken. We ordered their pick up shuttle and we met by one of the owners. Very worth it. We asked for a room with a view of the bridge, which ended up being their large apartment - a little more space then we needed and a few sets of stairs up - but the view was incredible and the apartment warm and well equipped. The walk past the Gellert Baths and across Liberty Bridge to the Pest side takes only a few minutes and if you want to go farther - there are tramways at the bottom of the hill and a metro line across the bridge.
Eszter, the owner, not only had answers to all the questions I had, but had tickets available for all the options we were interested in. We took the Hop on Hop off bus, which stops just over the bridge by the covered market. We also ordered a tour of Szendandre, which ended up being a private tour with a pick up at the door and a great guide. She also could reserve Danube boat rides with or without dinner. There are plenty of restaurants close by for Breakfast and Dinner on the Pest side that we visited ( Notably the For Sale pub!), and a few on the Buda side which we didn't try .
All in all this is a real find - good location - comfortable and clean - and kind people with cute small children and a gorgeous Airedale Terrier.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Bridge.
