And crossing the Danube is a pleasure. You can do it with one of the eight bridges ( which
bind Buda and Pest. The four in the center are the most impressive.
The bridges aren't only impressive but the views also and on the warm days they offer a
free refresh. My advice choose for the chain bridge, cross it walking and take your time to
enjoy the views of the Danube, Buda and Pest.

It was a dream fulfilled when I saw the Danube. I not only read about it but taught children for years about this water body. In Budapest , the river looks gorgeous not only in the daytime but also at night with the lights reflecting from the shores . And don't forget to take the cruise at night.

Jump on a ship and take special photos of the Parliament and the bridges. You can go up to Esztergom, Visegrad to the Duna bend with Mahart ships. It is real fun. The prices are reasonable. We really enjoyed it with friends. http://www.mahartpassnave.hu/

Actually I am living just 5 min distance from the river Danube. Take the Tram 2 form Margit hid - Jaszai Mari ter and enjoy the river side from the tram. You can see the Castle, the Citadella and so on. If you have time, walk in the Duna -Korzo till the Fovam ter. (The tram 2 goes to the Fovam ter as well.) There you must go into the Vasarcsarnok, which is a market for foods. Try all the lovely hungarian dishes! :)

The brass shoes on the Pest side of the river is a very moving yet understated testament to the pain and suffering that happened there.
