Balta köz is a narrow passage opening from Szentháromság tér and there is a small – and we mean small – shop selling a limited range of delicious traditional Hungarian strudels. They make traditional strudels with various fillings, both savoury and sweet. The bakery shop has only a few seats and not much room to hold more that about three seated and about another six standing at a time. All we can say is that the strudels we tasted were inexpensive and delicious! According to local judging, the strudels here are the best in Budapest, maybe in Hungary! On the wall is a map of the world adorned with pins showing where their customers have come from.

Popped in here to sample the strudel as we fancied a pudding and we thought it was great. Cheap, cheerful and very yummy strudel. Delicious! No there's not much room and its not a restaurant more of a take away bakery but deloius all the same. I would Definitely return for some more strudel.

Do bear in mind that we visited in winter, so sitting outdoors was not an option. It is a small shop selling strudels and coffee and not much else, with barely room to seat 4 people. I am not a strudel expert, but they tasted fine.

Tucked away in a tiny one block alley, it is easy to walk by this prized pastry place by blinking twice. They now have a sign on the street to point the way. The strudels (retes in Hungarian) are always fresh out of the oven, because the turn-over is that great. The crust is flaky, while the fillings are either sweet or savory are ideal companions for a delightful snack or lite meal.

The young staff are thrilled to have watch your face light up when you take a bite.

I have ever eaten the best strudel in my life at Budavari Retesvar. The staff is very nice, the home made strudel is very delicious, best fast food in the castle area with croissant and hungarian "kenyerlangos". The prices are very friendly.
