“Great apartment, wonderful location.”

Got home a couple of days ago after a very enjoyable 4-day stay at this apartment in Budapest. It is wonderfully located, in a very atmospheric 19th century building, close to St Stephen's Basilica, and if you like to walk as I do, there is no need to take public transport. All the main sights and plenty of decent restaurants, cafes and bars are within easy reach on foot. There are several little convenience stores nearby too if you want to take food and drink back to the apartment. (The kitchen is very well equipped.) The English owner and his local representative, Janos, were very pleasant and always helpful especially when we had a small problem that they resolved very quickly. It's always very good to know that owners take their responsibilities to their tenants seriously! I hope to be back one day, and would certainly recommend to friends and family. The only other point others may be interested in is that while the main bedroom faces onto the inner courtyard and is very quiet, the second bedroom faces onto the street and there was a bit more noise, but nothing significant and not late at night.

“Fantastic apartment in an amazing location!”
Reviewed 13 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We've just returned from Budapest where we spent 11 nights in Alastair's beautiful apartment. Alastair was extremely helpful and a great guy to deal with. The apt has everything possible that a person needs and is a real home from home. It's location is amazing. District V is a beautiful part of Budapest with excellent restaurants and majestic buildings. Three restaurants we highly recommend are Tom George, Pommo d'oro and Misto Bistro (a couple of doors down). Excellent food, service and value at all 3. There's so much to see and do in Budapest and the people are lovely. We plan on returning to Alistair's apt next year and can highly recommend it! Go and see for yourselves and you will certainly agree!

“Very nice and excellent located apartment”
Reviewed 30 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

This is a very nice and cozy apartment and it looks exactly as advertised. Alistair, the owner was very helpful and he always responded quickly.
It is perfectly located in the heart of the city, next to the St Stephen's Cathedral. Down the street you have a lot of restaurants and bars. It's also close to the shopping street Vaci Utca and in walking distance from the river. The metro station is close by which is great.
Janos, the person that greeted us was very helpful and even though he didn't speak english, he was patient and we managed to get along.
If you come by car, there is an underground parking in front of the apartment, but is a little expensive. However, Janos, made for us arrangements for a parking at a very good price at 2 metro stations distance. We chose to walk though, as it took us 10-15 mins to get there.
The apartment itself is very nice, it has two bedrooms, two baths and everything you need: kitchen fully equipped if you want to cook anything, washing machine, dryer, tv with english channels, which is great for tourists from outside Hungary.
We liked it a lot and we cannot wait to return.

“Very Nice & Well Located Apartment”
Reviewed 18 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

A lovely apartment in a very convenient location. Just a few steps from St Stephens Cathedral in one direction or the large Deak Ferenc Square which is a central meeting place and has numerous bars and restaurants. It is also an easy walk from the Vaci Utca (top marks if you pronounce this right!) which is where most tourists head for and has numerous gift shops, boutiques, restaurants and other shops. It has Vorosmarty Square at one end closed to the apartment) and the famous covered market hall at the other. The old market hall is another popular place for visitors to see. It has gifts upstairs and food downstairs but also some fairly inexpensive fast food outlets where you can try Hungarian food. The apartment is roomy with high ceilings and two bathrooms (one has a shower cubicle) and is well equipped. No ice cube tray or cork screw but otherwise very good with plenty of supplies to get you started. Great to have a washing machine and dryer and was also great to have Sky TV. Not every self catering establishment bothers to provide much in the way of English speaking TV, so this was greatly appreciated, thank you. No lift but an easy climb to the 2nd floor where the apartment is situated. It is called "Number 1 Red Square" and I half wondered if we'd be greeted by some overly medalled guy in military uniform and one of those over sized hats. Instead Janos made us feel very welcome. He speaks little English but we managed with the help of my partners Hungarian cousins. Don't let this put you off. There are guides and instructions in English so all will be fine. On and off switches are universal and there's even international adapters provided, slippers and umbrellas. Would definitely stay here again.
