My daughter and I stayed at Hotel Pest for 7 days in August 2011. This hotel is very centrally located, you can walk to may key sites such as the Basilica, the Gerbaud, and the Opera House (which is a block away.) There is also a Metro stop 1 block away, which is really perfect since this city is very nice to see by metro and tram.

The staff is friendly and helpful and there 24 hours a day. They speak english, and provide great service. The rooms are big by european standards, and were great in every way (clean, quiet, etc.) We loved Budapest so much, we cancelled our side trips and extended our stay at Hotel Pest. Give yourself enough time to see this amazing city!

I stayed here for four days and was pleasantly surprised by the very close proximity to the Opera underground stop on Andrassy utca. This hotel is on a side street in a very safe area but within walking distance of many restaurants and tourist areas. Everything else is a short ride away on public transportation. Although this is an old hotel, it has been completely renovated and has a very nice lift to the higher floors. The breakfast buffet is marvelous. WiFi is available in the rooms and there is an internet terminal in the lobby. The front desk staff went out of their way to assist me with directions, boarding pass printing, et cetera. I would return here happily any time.

We were pleased with the large room and closet space at Hotel Pest ; plenty of room for suitcases, etc.
Loved the very minimalist furniture; tasteful, new, simple modern lines. Everything is clean and in very good condition.
Ask for a room with view of interior courtyard. We were on the 4th floor and I loved looking down into the green area. We liked the greenery climbing the walls and the flowery decorated balconies of very nice city apartments.
The people at the front desk were helpful. We loved the breakfast buffet and asked for cappuccino every morning. Very good.
The location was excellent. It was our first trip to Budapest and we were thrilled with the city.

I spent a total of four nights here. This hotel was selected because of the proximity to the opera house. It turned out to be nice as well as convenient. We left the hotel at four am and the staff made sure to put out coffee for us even though it was early.

Hidden gem ! Located in a narrow street , a block away from the Opera & metro station, close to Ferenc Liszt Square ,offered us a very pleasant accomodation! Nothing luxurious but everything was clean and of good taste. Spacious rooms (especially the triple one), good breakfast, friendly receptionists. I strongly recomend it !

We stayed here for a weekend in November 2010. It doesn't look like a traditional hotel, just a plain door in the street but don't be put off by the inauspicious exterior. Walking inside reveals a lovely, renovated building with great roomy, minimalist rooms, sparkling clean, marble bathrooms and very comfortable. Cpntinental breakfast served iin a delightful conservatory with a range of options, scrambled eggs, furit, yoghurt, cereals, cheese, meats etc.

The hotel is centrally placed in Pest, a couple of minutes from the Opera House and so very easy to walk to most of the tourist sites and some great little restaurants. Book tickets to see something in the opera house, it's extremely cheap and you get to see a beautiful building (we paid £3 total to go to the opera) and enjoy a performance.

Tip: Having not a word of Hungarian between us we asked the reception to book our taxi back to the airport and were tole the firm they used charge 6100florints. I pointed out that the airport service cost 5200 florints and they were happy to organise the cheaper option for us.
