“Beautiful hotel, perfect location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2013 via mobile

I adored this hotel. Perfectly located in the centre of the city, 100 yards from the Opera and a few moments walk from the bars and restaurants of the Jewish district. The hotel is stylish, quiet, rooms are clean, spacious and modern (we had a 'natural' room) and lovely and warm after the snow outside. We warmed up in the sauna each teatime. Breakfast is delicious with loads of choice, including bubbly. I can't find fault with this place and it was excellent value for money.

Thanks to other ratings in tripadvisor, I "dared" book this hotel for a couple of nights during a business stay. And it was the perfect choice! Casati is located on a small street parallel to the most famous street in Budapest with all fancy shops around (just forget your credit card at home) and a 5 minute walk to the Opera. You walk in the hotel and you immediately have the feeling you are home. You are asked to sit down, offered a coffe (Nespresso ;-)) "just because it is you, Mrs .....). Rooms are spacious, clean and I was lucky to have one looking in the beautiful "backyard".
Unfortunately, breakfast was not that great. Almost like in a YMCA. Much room for improvement. But should I have to go back to Budapest I will book the same hotel.

Dear Rafaela P,

Thank you for your review regarding to your stay at Casati Budapest Hotel. It is always a good feeling when we know that our guests choose our hotel based on the real experiences and reviews of previous visitors.
Our favourite is also Nespresso – and you know, the first impression is the most important :) Our rooms overlooking the ivy courtyard are really quiet - after a tiring workday there is nothing better than a relaxing rest in a tranquil ambience. By the way, have you tried our sauna, fitness and massage facility? We hope you had some free time to explore the city too.
Thank you for your notice, we have already taken measures to improve our buffet breakfast, that contains hot dishes, cold cuts, freshly baked pastries, vegetables and fruits right from the grower, hot and cold drinks, moreover a glass of champagne.
We are looking forward to welcoming you again at Casati!
All the best,

Location.
The Casati hotel is very centrally located at a short walking distance from the Opera, from Metro 1, the coctail bar rated no. 50 world wide (Boutique bar), the Andrassy avenue and, a little further away in Dob Utca (and even further on in the same direction), several ruin pubs like Szimpla Kert.
Room.
We had booked a small suite at a very competative winter-rate (room 47) and found the room quite good with exellent beds. Not much luggage space made the large, open room seem somewhat untidy at all times. The house hold cold be more attentive regarding refill of coffee/tea-bags, toilette paper and bathroom amenities, but these are, of course, minor problems.
Breakfast.
The breakfast was correct, with a selection of food you would expect. Small, but nice breakfast room. The bar vis-a-vis had an inventive and dynamic decor for the old stone walls.
Staff.
The staff at the front desk was polite and helpful.

Eating out.
We once more had dinner at the Spinoza over in Dob Utca. Not gourmet, but nice and lively atmosphere. The entré with the panfried foi gras still recommendable. We also tried a restaurant in direction of the river called Tigris. This was a small gourmet restaurant. The food was of good quality but prepared in a way that the taste was a bit anonymous. Professionally smiling and explaining staff, lacking a bit of heart though. Booking recommended.

Our stay was during easter, and a very cold and snowy one it was this year, thus we had ample course to visit cafés. They are in general OK places in our experience and you are welcome wether for lunch, for cakes (some temptation there) or just for a coffee. We could recommend places like the newly reopened café Central, the book café up on Andrassy or the dessert/cake/sparkling wine/coffe-buffet at the Marriot down by the river for the extravagant sum of HUF 2200 (maybe limited off-season period offer?).

Transport.
For public transport within the city limits (bus, tram, metro, boat), a pass will limit you time in lines to a one-time thing. There are passes for 1, 3, 5 and 7 days (also longer periods). You just show your pass when entering the metro etc.

Conclusion.
To finish with the Casati. At a rate like the one we payed (special package 3+ nights as well as low season), we would certainly stay at the hotel again. Absoluteley good value for money.

Room Tip: Room 47 was big and quiet.

Dear Curiousityrules,
Thank you so much for your detailed and helpful review about your Budapest vacation.
We appreciate that you were satisfied with the value for money, our wide choice of breakfast as well as Casati’s central location and could easily discover the nearby bars, ruin pubs and restaurants with the unique Hungarian cuisine.
The public transportation network of Budapest is quite extensive so that you can conveniently reach all the major sights of the city. The tickets are also variable: you can choose from single, block of 10 tickets, 24h, 72h or 7-day travel cards depending on the length of your stay.
All in all, despite the unusual Easter weather we hope you had a joyful holiday in Budapest. Thank you for your notice regarding to the refill of the complimentary tea/coffee and bathroom amenities.
We are looking forward to welcoming you again during the hot summer season.
Kind regards,
Gabor Erdos

Literally just returned from Budapest last night, and the Casati Budapest Hotel was awesome in terms of service and location. Seriously, the location is top notch! There are MANY great dining options on the same street, and the Jewish Quarter is literally steps away with the Great Synagogue and more dining options and fun places to have a drink (check out Szimpla Kert for a drink). The opera and operetta theatres are a blocks away, and you could walk to the Danube and St. Stephen's Basilica from the hotel. Andrassy Street is a great walk which will lead you to Heroes' Square and this park (forget its name) with the Trannsylvanian castle replica.

We were upgraded to a junior suite with this painting of a funky owl inside. The room was quiet and faced a beautiful courtyard. Maybe the beds were a little on the soft side, but that's probably the worst criticism that I have of this place.

My stay in Budapest (four days/four nights) was great, and I know it definitely had a lot to do with the Casati. I would stay there again, most definitely!

Room Tip: I think you can get a cool or funky room, but all rooms seemed pretty awesome.

Dear Scooper212,
Thank you very much for taking the time to write us about your stay at Casati Budapest Hotel. We are glad that you were satisfied with our service and great location. Although Budapest doesn’t have a centre, from our hotel you can easily reach everything with a nice walk.
Recently the Jewish quarter became a beloved going-out area with its historic buildings, intimate restaurants, the so-called Hungarian ruin pubs (e.g.Szimpla, one of the largest ruin pubs), wine bars and design shops. Gozsdu Courtyard in Király street is also worth visiting – great restaurants, bars and clubs are waiting for you in one garden, moreover a great design fair every Sunday.
We are happy that you liked the ’COOL’ style junior suite overlooking the ivy courtyard and had a lovely time in Budapest.
Please come back soon and try our Heaven, Natural or Classic rooms too!
Best wishes,
Gabor Erdos

A very smart, stylish hotel in the Opera district. Perfect location from which to explore the bars and restaurants of the Jewish quarter, and the rest of Budapest. The extra to upgrade to a junior suite is next to nothing and well worth it.

Dear JonMeakin,
Thank you for writing your feedback on Tripadvisor, we really appreciate it.
The neighboring Jewish quarter truly has a quaint atmosphere with a rich heritage – Europe’s largest synagogue, museums and memorial parks - ,its narrow streets, art galleries and super, well-designed ruin pubs - have you tried Szimpla or Gozsdu Court? We hope you also enjoyed Hungary’s varied gastronomy and fine wines.
Indeed, our Junior Suite is the best choice if you would like to have a relaxing, luxury escape far from the hustle of bustle of everyday life, we are delighted that you found it lovely and the price reasonable.
We wish you a pleasant spring season, see you next time at Casati!
Best regards,

stayed at this hotel a couple of weeks ago for 5nights for my wifes 50th birthday.if you are thinking of going to budapest then i recommend you book this hotel it is clean modern .the staff are friendly and always there to give any advice .the breakfast buffet is reasonable we stayed in a junior suite it might be a little more pricey but was well worth it, as for the location the hotel is in a quite side street just of anndrassy avenue and about 10 minute walk to the town center the opera metro station is about 200 meters away. theres plenty of bars and restruarants near by .because of the time we landed about 11pm i arranged with the hotel for a taxi to transfer us to the hotel it cost about 23 english pounds but well worth it at that time in the night.we never used the gym or sauna or had a drink at the bar but all looked inviting.this is a really great hotel to stay in for all the above reasons.dont miss out .

a couple of tips
if you have the time, get the metro and then the bus back to the airport they both connect and it will save you money costs about £1.50 per person .
if you go on the tour bus it they charge for 2days for the price of 1 but do a bit of bartering and you may get 3 for 1 they need your custom.

Room Tip: if you have the time, get the metro and then the bus back to the airport they both connect and it wil...

I was visiting budapest for a dental consultation and had booked five nights at the Casati with my daughter, we were really happy with the room and the breakfast times were really good 8-10 weekdays and up until 12 at weekends. There was a good selection of food, even things for my vegan daughter but we did have to get our own soya milk as it wasnt available. The staff spoke good english and were very helpful, all in all a very pleasant stay. the hotel is also in a good position for exploring, ten minutes or so from the river and a couple of minutes from the Hop on&-off bus stop.

Room Tip: we did not choose our twin room, but it was on floor 3 and was really nice.

Dear Brogan1,
thank you for choosing Casati Budapest Hotel and writing your positive review. I will pass on your kind words to my great colleagues.
We are delighted that your vegan daughter also enjoyed our buffet breakfast and that you were content with the opening hours. There is nothing better on a cosy weekend morning than staying in bed a bit longer than usual and have a tasty and varied breakfast without rushing.
The Hop on – hop off bus is a good and convenient choice if you would like to have an overall view of the city on your own timetable – I hope you also tried their boat line! Moreover, the red line has a stop at the Opera House – only one corner from Casati.
We are looking forward to meeting you again at our lovely hotel in the near future. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us!
