You are wondering if you really are right when you enter through the door and second door (both with buzzer locks) and find yourself in a very worn down (old and charming -yes) hallway entrance and an elevator from 1900 cold and then have to walk on a outside walkway ower a rough inner yard - finally you are inside the hotels premises and it looks ok , but when inside the room - the noice from the street and size of the room?
No way that this could get an 9,6 on booking.com from me anyway.
Still ok but really this website has done a fraud on pictures and reviews...

Hi all, i will start from the negatives this time:) a bit pricey, 160e for 2 nights, and not wireless internet in all the rooms. We had room no 14 that is exactly opposite the reception and the internet was working perfectly. Time for the good words: in the center of budapest, next to the metro station, next to vaci street, next to danube, what else could you ask? Very good noise isolation, nice view from the window, it makes you feel you are a part of the city. The stuff is out of logic friendly, breakfast is top, very clean room.

I was intrigued by an earlier review about “not judging a book by its cover” and had reservations as I entered the main door and along the balcony. Thankfully on entering the hotel, I found it well furnished, very welcoming and the staff couldn’t do enough to help. The real bonus came when I sank into the bed at night – it had to be the comfiest I’ve encountered in all my travels across Europe – and the shower had enough power to wake me in the morning.

The breakfast selection was a little limited in choice but there was plenty available and the location is perfect for the business district and tourists.

Special note should go to the Borsso Bistro a short walk from the hotel – the standard and choice available is far ahead of the catering available in the vicinity and well worth a visit.

We stayed at Leo Panzio for 4 nights at the end of September 2010. Very convenient location for transport and also a Match supermarket opposite. Two lovely women served breakfast-no English but very friendly and efficient.

Came recommended by Rick Steves and was indeed a very nice small hotel in a great location. On a busy street, but rooms were quiet. Close to many sites, but do utilize Budapest’s wonderful transportation system. The hotel is very close to main Metro stop and just blocks from the Danube. 24 hour staff speak English and are very helpful. Beautiful city!

Leo Panzio is one of the best "bang-for-the-buck" hotels in Budapest. Simply "do not judge a book by its cover!" Exceptionally located. Outside, Leo Panzio is in a hulking building that’s seen better days (like many buildings in major cities in Eastern Europe); however, compared to other reviews herein, we did not find the building or neighborhood un-inviting (same for the inner building and elevator; folks, this is Central /Eastern Europe). And inside, Leo Panzio has modern rooms, including one of the best showers in our Central/Eastern European travels, and a friendly staff, which we found wonderful. Though, the breakfast is poor. So do yourself (and others traveling with you) a favor and experience Leo Panzio.

This is a really great place, situated in the heart of the city and within walking distance of almost everything. It's superb value for what it offers and the staff are friendly, fluent English speakers and more than willing to help in any way they can. They had great recommendations for places to go/eat etc.
This is a top of the range three star hotel, with immaculate rooms and a great breakfast included. As everyone else has said, don't let the exterior put you off, the hotel is lovely and it's in a great area.
