“very good budget accommodation”
Reviewed 10 November 2011

We stayed there 3 nights this november. We had a double room with one double bed for 27 euros per night with breakfast included. The room had its own bathroom which was great, because most budget hotels in Budapest have shared bathroom. The room and bathroom were nice and clean, and really warm all day and all night long. The room also had a fridge and a TV which had only Hungarian programmes. The breakfast was also alright. And the personnel at the hotel very nice. The only problem was that their english was pretty bad, but that seems to be a general problem all over Hungary.

We originally booked for 4 days (3+1 free) but we extended our stay with an extra 3 days. The hotel is located in the green belt of Budapest which is very quiet and nice and it's easy to reach with public transport (HEV). There is a convenient store near by (CBA). They have free parking and free wireless internet. The rooms are all alike, big enough and clean, but the furniture and the floors look old and used. The breakfast gets boring after a couple of days, but for us it wasn't an issue. The staff was very friendly and they speak English.

Room Tip: Room with a view opposite to the street

The Bed & Breakfast is located in the outskirts of Budapest, tucked away on a sidestreet of a calm neighbourhood. The term "you get what you pay for" applies, but in a positive way. You get a bed, a shower and a modest breakfast, nothing more. But the rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and the surroundings are peaceful.

POSITIVE ASPECTS
You are met with a friendly atmosphere that remains throughout your stay. The hotel has a private parking lot, free for all guests. For a modest fee you can upgrade the room to include a jacuzzi. Only 2 rooms are equipped with hot tubs, so you are recommended to call ahead.

NEGATIVE ASPECTS
The distance from downtown Budapest is great. Expect a 30 minute ride with local transport or a 20 minute ride by car (or more, due to frequent traffic jams). There are no grocery stores or restaurants nearby.

LOCAL TRANSPORT
The HÉV suburban train stops 200m from the hotel. This train runs between downtown Budapest and the picturesque village of Szentendre, to whom a visit is highly recommended.

CONCLUSION
This hotel is perfect for couples seeking a more quiet environment away from the busy streets of downtown Budapest. The hotel is not suited for either business travellers or large tourist groups.

I stayed here with a friend for 2 nights.

The hotel is situated in Romaifurdo, which is a 5 minute train ride from Budapest city centre. The staff at the hotel all spoke English and helped us out by booking our airport transfer, teaching us some Hungarian words, and giving us directions!

To get to Romaifurdo station, take a right out of the hotel, and then the second left.

Our room was a good size, but it is customary in Hungary to only clean rooms once every 2 days - so it wasn't done for us. But, the room was clean, had a fridge (great!), tv, double bed, desk, 2 wardrobes and en-suite shower room. We actually broke our toilet (it's an old fashioned pull-the-chain jobby), but it was fixed within a minute or two by reception staff. The shower wasn't particularly strong but nice and warm.

A lovely family run hotel with friendly staff and in a safe-feeling residential area.

I spent several days in September and again in November '08. I loved this small hotel. It is very reasonably priced for a very decent quality hotel, that I could find in the Budapest area.

It is a distance from the center, on the Buda side. The city center is easily accessible with the HÉV suburban train to Batthyány Tér (Római Fürdő stop), which then connects you with a direct subway to the Pest side. This hotel puts you within easy distance for also exploring Obuda and Szentendre. The Budapest Card as well as the regular bus tickets include this train. The hotel sits in a residential area, an easy stroll away from the Roman ruins.

It's a quiet family-run property. The desk staff speak English very well. They can help organize transportation to/from the airport, as well as tours. Tours will pick up you at the hotel, saving you the train to the center. Free Internet is always available in the lobby, there's a small bar counter and a nice outdoor patio, when the weather permits. A breakfast buffet is included and it was very good and plentiful. It is a real bargain for what you get!

My room was spacious, had a TV and minibar, and a bathroom with shower. The heating was comfy and good water pressure, with lots of hot water. My room had a pretty view of the hills and fields behind the hotel.

Although I didn't have a car, this would be an excellent hotel for those who need easy, safe, no-cost parking when including Budapest in their trip. I'd park the car, not worry about it, and train it to the city.

The BB Hotel is very hard to find when googling for it - try "bbhotelbp". I initially found it through Venere. Direct e-mails to the hotel were always answered promptly and in English. It was a real pleasure dealing with them from day 1.

If you're going to be in Budapest for 3-4 nights or more, or come in with a car, the BB would be a great choice. If you come in by train for just 1 or 2 nights, you may want to stay right in the center. The cheapies on the Pest or Buda side tend to be quite dingy though.

  • Liked — Great hospitality, cleanliness and great price.
