“City break”

Fantastic hotel, food, staff and everything that goes with it. If there's a better hotel there I never found it! New York cafe was pretty impressive just like the photos. The whole experience of Budapest was probably much better than expected although didn't think food out with the hotel was anything to write home about but ok.

The front desk staff were excellent upon arrival and check in. Concierge was very helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is truly beautiful and a "must see" on your visit to Budapest. However, the breakfast buffet can be more varied as they serve the same thing day in day out. We spent 7 nights here and the breakfast staff need a lesson in customer care as their attitudes leave a bit to be desired. The pianist's were a nice touch and very accommodating to our requests. The rooms are spotlessly clean and serviced daily with a night time downturn. Location is good with about 20 minute walk into the centre, this was no problem as there are plenty of watering holes along the way! Obviously you can expect to pay what you will for a 5 star hotel in UK.

Room Tip: To experience the ambience and true feel of the hotel, stay in the old part.

Boscolo Hotel has very courteous staff, I was impressed. Rooms look beautiful (I was more impressed with the rooms, than with the apartments they offer for booking) and the food at New York Cafe is great.

Overall - highly satisfactory experience !

Gate 1travel notified us we would not be staying at intercontinental due to a booking error. They rebooked us at the Boscolo. It was a wonderful hotel staff, room, breakfast location great. We had a letter waiting for us fromvthe Intercontinental apologizing for their error-very classy .Gate1 did their usual fantastic job on the whole trip. Budapest is a wonderful city I was charmed when I was there in 1973 and was not disappointed when I returned 41 yrs later. The big decision will be where to stay when I go backbthe Boscolo or the Intercontinental both are class acts.

This is the epitome of a "Grand Budapest Hotel". Impressive on the outside and in, with the dining room decorated in the rococo fashion you only expect to see in churches or palaces. Supposedly the most beautiful cafe in the world. The bathroom area of our room was strange, separated from the bedroom with a glass wall, and the shower was at first incomprehensible to us. The deep bathtub was positively dangerous with no treads or hand grips to help you get out. The long, narrow swimming pool in the basement is unique, giving the impression of being carved out of a limestone cave. Breakfast buffet was fine, though the central service table was crowded as we had swelled the numbers by nearly 200 from our river cruise boat while the Danube was too low to float.

Room Tip: Some rooms face onto basic courtyards. The roads around the hotel are quite heavily trafficked.

The hotel is located in a beautiful, impressive, very elegant building. Unfortunately the area is not very nice, there is a lot of traffic on the main road, lot of pollution, noise. If your room is on the main road, you will hear a terrible noise every time the tram is passing by. This is one of the reasons why I do not recommend the hotels to family with children. The city center is not very close, at least 20 mins walk. In the area there are lots of good restaurants and pubs.

There is a clear problem with air conditioning in the lobby. This is of course due also to the architecture of the building but I believe air conditioning could be improved.

To access the lobby there are 10-15 steps to climb. If you are with a stroller, you will need to carry it over the steps as there is no other way to go to the lobby. Fortunately the personnel is always ready to help. Nevertheless this is the second reason why I don't think this hotel is good for family with children.

The breakfast is very disappointing for such a beautiful, 5 star hotel: not much choice, especially the "sweet part". Always the same offer every day and not of the best quality. Also for me it was very strange to see that there are no table clothes where the breakfast is served and that they use paper tissues. The location is astonishing, this is why maybe people do not realize/remember that the breakfast is not as good as the location and it has got huge margins of improvement for a 5 star hotel.

Very good the business center where you can relax, enjoy free coffee/tea, watch tv on comfortable sofas, use computers. Also excellent the free wifi.

The spa is not very big but it is very nice. The pool is small but very cosy, with warm water and beautiful lights. The personnel there is extremely kind and always ready to help. This comment is valid for all the people working in this hotel: it is very rare to find such friendly, educated and kind people: thanks to all the personnel of Boscolo Hotel !!!

Room Tip: do not select room on the main road

The service was professional and up to the standard of a world class hotel run by the Marriott group. As many have mentioned, the location of this hotel is perfect. The metro is a few steps away and the neighbourhood is safe enough for one to walk back to the hotel from a nearby pub or station.

One disadvantage is it seems like there are not that many restaurants nearby, so if you want some late night food you might want to go to the New York Cafe in the hotel itself.

About the rooms, I have read reviews about the interior of the rooms being dull and boring. To be fair, this may be affected by the colour scheme they use in the room. I found it lovely and quite special. The bathroom was spacious, the hotel was also very generous with the towels and toiletries, which is helpful if you're going to visit the baths in the city.

It is lovely how all the rooms have their doors facing the lobby - the symmetrical design is very beautiful. It somewhat reminds me of the fictional Grand Budapest Hotel!
