I took my wife to the Boscolo New York Palace for a surprise weekend. Fantastic hotel - best in Budapest. Really good restauarant, fantastic spa area, lovely bedroom (at the back, so much quieter) and an incredible atrium. Definitely coming back.

Stayed two nights at the New York Palace over a Winter weekend. Had seen a lot of the hotel before we arrived, which in retrospect was a mistake as there wasn't much left to surprise us. But still a great hotel and a wonderful experience.

The building is as beautiful as the pictures suggest. The decor generally tasteful and even restrained (with the exception of the New York Cafe and the restaurant, which seem original). Very Italian, actually. As Italophiles we found the familiarity of the hotel's style one of its best features.

The service was excellent, fine mannered and well-spoken all round. Professional and attitude free. No hidden surprises on the bill, no pressure to pay for expensive extras or services (and of course they are expensive). Staff helpful and discreet.

Breakfast was good, mainly Italian style with a few concessions to English and German (and American) tastes. Chilled champagne, freshly squeezed juices, wide selection of cheeses, cold cuts, breads, meusli, eggs, bacon, omelettes cooked to order, etc. Best hotel breakfast I've had.

Didn't eat in the restaurant -- I'm sure it's good but also expensive. Also didn't make it to the cigar bar. Pity.

We had the indoor pool and spa mainly to ourselves, being Winter. Very nice. Nothing extreme, but all clean, modern and faultlessly presented. Room and fabulous marble bathroom both large and tasteful. Proper duvet on the bed.

Only small negative was the coffee: cappuccino at breakfast and espresso in the New York Cafe (within the hotel). Not up to the standards of Budapest (or indeed Italy, considering it's an Italian hotel!), and not considering what a focal point the cafe is.

stayed for 3 nights , had the most fab room. went on the love and romance package. the staff were just great , we felt like we were the only ones in the hotel. enjoyed dinner in the deep water restursnt, what service!! try the cigar bar , they make a great gin and tonic, pricey!!! 12.50 euro each. we had a great time a this hotel and it lived up to all the reviews posted. make sure you book direct with the hotel as they have great deals compared to other web sites. we had airport transfers ect included. the spa was very nice with great staff.breakfast had a great number of dishes to choose from , we even had a glass of champagne every morning!!!

What a wonderful hotel in a beautiful city! My husband and I spent a weekend at the hotel to celebrate our anniversary and had a fantastic weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful suggesting tours and restaurants all of which we enjoyed. They also booked all of these for us and arranged taxis transfers - nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is also very close to a Metro station and trams run along the street outside. We were upgraded and the suite we stayed in was impeccable. The hotel has a lovely spa with steam room, sauna, heated pool and a fitness studio - all of which is available free to hotel guests and was modern and very clean. You can also arrange the usual spa treatments - we didn't, but they have a very good selection available. The Cafe New York was a highlight of our trip as it's so beautiful. Even if you don't stay at this hotel, you must pay a visit to this exquisite cafe. I recommend the hot chocolate - real chocolate with delicious Hungarian whipped cream - out of this world!! I highly recommend staying at this beautiful hotel.

We had a perfect stay at New York Boscolo hotel for 4 nights las April. Very good service (room cleaning was not very punctual but was spotless to us), perfect room and facilities. Very good location also. Spa is great but the pool is quite small though. Overal great stay and good value for money (booked by octopus travel had a special offer for 150 euros/night and a free stay)

I recently stayed for 4 days at the New York Palace, Budapest. I was very disappointed by the hotel but especially the staff and service.

It started quite well, we were upgraded from a Junior Suite to an Executive suite. the room was beautiful. However although we were on the 5th floor you could here all the traffic. The suite had double glazing BUT the doors did not have a proper seal so you could hear traffic, cars hooting and sirens 24hours a day. I ended up sleeping on the sofa. The rooms at the back of the hotel have consruction going on below them and the hotel is surrounded by a busy road. So you get no peace whichever room you stay in.

Another suprise was how badly designed the bathroom was. The room was big, but had a tiny bath (you couldnt lie in it and I'm 5ft4) and the shower was also tiny (2.5ftx3ft). And I agree with other comments made on this site about their plumbing system. The bath took 20mins to fill as the water trickled out and when you took a shower the water constantly fluctuated from hot to warm whilst you were showering.

The hotel looks very impressive, stunning even. However, its in a poor, low class neiboughood with junkies and gypseys everywhere. Also a Peep show behind the hotel (may please some!!). So no noteworthy sights close by. You have to get a taxi everywhere. The hotel does not have its on cabs (unlike The Four Seasons and Intecontinental) Drivers were generally miserable and rude - i was told off by one because I opened a window whilst he had the air conditioning on.

Most of the staff at the hotel were miserable, apart from the Head Concierge (Aaron). The breakfast was poor, the omelette station was always unattended and the person rude and miserable. I informed the staff the ham in the Cold cuts section had gone off. there was only 3 different kinds of processed and pre-packed meat. hardly any fruit and staff not once smiled or said good morning.

At breakfast we saw the same staff for 4 days. They never once smiled, said good morning, nothing! I found them arrogant and rude. I have never seen anything like it. When we went to pay £2,000 for our stay, we never got a "Thank you" or "We hope you enjoyed your stay", not even a - "Have a safe flight" NOTHING. I was shocked. I have never experienced this lack of hospitality in all the years I have stayed in 5 star deluxe hotels - this is definately not one of those.

We went to the Four Seasons for lunch to see what it was like. The service was immpecible. Couldn't do enough. They actually called us by name!! We were at the New York Palace for 4 days and not one member of staff at breakfast said good morning let alone used my name. The Four seasons is in a much better location near the Danube and also looks stunning.

Well I wouldnt be going back to Budapest in a hurry (everyone looks unhappy and the city looks shabby) the place needs a lot of investment. I would not recommend this hotel, stay at the Four Seasons instead

I visited the New York Place with a group of girlfriends and we were completely thrilled with the hotel. The staff were so helpful - we really felt that they did everything they could to make our stay brilliant - from the upgrade to (AMAZING) suites when we arrived (without any request from us) through to advice on restaurants, taxi bookings, questions on how to get about etc. The hotel is beautiful - the atrium is stunning and the rooms are fabulous.

The spa staff were incredibly efficient (though the quality of the treatments was variable). The gym is a bit cramped and hot - though really funky! The pool is a lap pool - you couldn't get more than a couple of people in it swimming at a time.

We thought that the breakfast was good - perhaps they have read the comments!! The service in the New York Cafe was incredibly slow and the food was VERY expensive - we only ate there once!

Location was fine for us - we walked most places from the hotel and although it isn't by the river we didn't feel it was a problem. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within an easy walk of the hotel.

We would definitely recommend this hotel!
