“5 star-you are joking!”
Reviewed 18 January 2014 via mobile

Stayed 2 nights after a river cruise so 5 star to finish holiday in style. Big disappointment. 1st impressions were ok-nice lobby, friendly staff & bright. Then to the room. This is not luxury 5 star but a very ordinary 1 bedroom apartment & very plain, almost depressing. Bed was very soft, bedlinen threadbare, pillows very lumpy. Bathroom had a cheap washing machine in & shower in need of modernising, towels were threadbare. No kettle in kitchenette or tea making facilities, just coffee.Breakfast was ok, staff helpful but restaurant was tiny-maybe 30 people max at any one time. Pool was exceedingly small.
Loved Budapest but will not stay here again. Would rate as 3 star nicer although 3 stars we have stayed in have been nicer. Should advertise as being an apartment not a hotel.

Location is in a dreary area but then much of Budapest seems to be like this, but one can walk easily to the main city. Unfortunately we had an unhappy introduction to Budapest as we accepted a taxi driver who approached us on the train station and he fleeced us - cost to our hotel was Euro 47, which should have been less than 10. Lesson! Do not accept drivers on the platform and, as we usually do, look up beforehand the approximate price to your hotel !
We had a small suite which was adequate but the bath and hand-held shower definitely need upgrading as they are impossible to use and wash oneself. The pool and spa seemed full with a family and a couple already there which says something about it's size, so I couldn't relax there. Breakfast was just adequate and moderate quality, which I wasn't surprised at in a country like Budapest in winter, as fresh food would be expensive.

Room Tip: Internal rooms and suites facing into the courtyard looked better than one fronting the street, whic...

A nice hotel situated in the centre of the city. You need some local knowledge in order to find the most interesting places. The room we had needed some attention, it started to show its age. The breakfast was good, but you had to ask for coffee or tea. There is little space to move around in the breakfast room. The orange juice was probably artificial. Looking out on the street shows extremely poor people in the neighbouring Kürt Street.
The elevator is slow. In the bathroom, the shower could be improved, during showering the floor becomes wet if you're not careful. The personnel is polite and efficient. Some street noise during the night. The favourable impression one gets after the first visit may be modified when you look twice.

at first we thought it was far from the centre of Budapest, but it is actually very well located for many restaurants, the Opera, and most importantly the New York cafe!! walking distance from everywhere! the rooms were exceptionally comfortable, the breakfast was first class, the staff very professional. We walked everywhere from the hotel from the Millennium Memorial to the Buda Castle!

Room Tip: Higher floors have balconies

We weren't sure about the location as we had not been to budapest before but it was great. The hotel is just off the road that the New York Cafe is on and it is a lovely walk passed the opera house and loads of restaurants and cafés. We walked down to the Danube and on the other side is the castle. It is a really good city to walk around and this hotel is a great base to start from. The room itself was very tastefully decorated and spacious and even had a little kitchenette area with a senso coffee machine and a microwave. It was all done to a very good standard and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff at the front desk were also really helpful. Breakfast wasn't included but we could have opted for it for an extra cost in the restaurant, which we chose not to but walking past it, it looked good.

Just returned from a 3 night stay here. On arrival we were given a tourist pack with maps and tours etc which was a great help. The suite was compact but more than adequate for two. The only down side was the height of the shower, OK if you are 5 foot, not so good if any taller. Bed was super comfortable and the whole place was spotless. The TV was to pay for for any channel which is not the top of everyone's list on holiday but if like us its nice to have for an hour or so before sleep to relax with then it can be expensive as approx £10 for 24 hrs (4000 huf), a little on the steep side perhaps? The location was quiet as its set back from the road a little. Breakfast was adequate with choices for all. The sauna, jacuzzi and pool were lovely as it was no extra cost. All in all a recommended hotel.

The hotel is located close to the center (Oktogon, Andrassy Boulevard, Blaha Lujza ter). Nice rooms with a balcony. Good breakfast and friendly reception staff. The sauna is very small and the pool is not big/deep enough for swimming. Only one shower available.
