“great hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2014

stayed one night in Budapest and choose this hotel! comfy beds, with tea facilities, tv, great bathroom, it was clean and modern. i didn't enjoy not having a window to the outside, as the room got extremely warm, but that's the design of the hotel. breakfast was fab! great choice, bar the ratatouille :/ but it had the best tea and a large choice of different foods. the staff where very helpful and stored our bags during the day so we could explore the city!

Room Tip: ask for a room with a window to the outside

Let's get the negatives out of the way: the room was a bit dark.
And that's about it really, but let's consider some of the perceived negatives from other reviewers.
Firstly the hotel is not in a bad area. There is no need to worry at all on that account. Its a bit like the roads just off Oxford Street in London. We were perfectly happy walking about at night.
There is no restaurant in the hotel but it is within two minutes walk of dozens of bars and restaurants and within thirty minutes walk of literally hundreds of restaurants of all kinds where food and drink can be found at very reasonable prices ( 0.5l of lager for under £1, anyone?)
The whole hotel is clean and comfortable and the reception area is bright and welcoming and the staff all speak English and were very friendly and helpful. One thing which worried us on arrival was that the receptionist told us that we would have to pat "city tax" which had not been included and was a bit vague about how much it would be: "Only a few Euros". But we checked this out and there is a city tax and when we left after four nights it amounted to less than £1.50 so there is no need to be concerned about that.
The room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. The shower was great and the bed was large and comfortable. The room overlooked the atrium (see pictures) so did not have access to fresh air but that was not a problem. The air-conditioning was a bit noisy if we had the fan on full but at low it was ok. We were there in the middle of August with outside temperatures being about 34 degrees and we didn't get too hot. We both slept very well. The room was a bit dark though, even with all the lights on. The bathroom was nice and light though. The hotel was very quiet at night. The free Wi-Fi worked with no issues.
Breakfast was typical continental fare with a reasonable variety of cold meats, cheese, bread, croissants, cereals, fresh fruit, scrambled egg, sausages and so on: all the things you'd expect in a Budapest hotel. There was always plenty of room and again the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The hotel is ideally situated for the excellent Budapest local transport system, being within two minutes walk of the metro, a tram stop and bus stops. But we did not use any of those during our stay because it was easy to walk to all the main sites from the hotel. 30 minutes walk gets you to the Danube. (And we are in our 60s, by the way.) It is also on the same side of Budapest as the airport making it easily accessible from there. We took a taxi (about £18) but other people found the trains and buses fine.
All in all we found this hotel to be excellent for a city break in Budapest: clean, comfortable, friendly and well-located.

Room Tip: I think that there are a couple of rooms with outside Windows if you are bothered.

good service, staff fully verse with english and very helpful. Fantastic free WiFi even in the room.
Buffet breakfast eat as much as you want. Room clean everyday. MacDonald by the end of the road, very close to all transport. Spar supermarket everywhere. Best value you can find. modern hotel prefect for short visit. a 3 days transport pass is 4100 forient ( 365 to £1) or 4900 for 7 days, it include all type of public transports (trams, bus, tube, boat) and 2100 for a unlimited 48 hours river cruise on D8 is the best value to watch sunset along river Danube.

For a citytrip to Budapest, this is a great hotel to choose! It looks very modern, it's clean, the staff is very friendly, the breakfast is good enough to start the day! It's very close to a metro station wich makes it easy to travel to the center of the city and when you went out in the famous ruin bars, it's takes you only about ten minutes walk to get to the hotel!
If you want to have a good hotel in a wonderful city for a good time, don't have any doubts anymore, just book the Atrium Fashion hotel!

Very pleasant hotel with comfortable, air conditioned, modern albeit small rooms - quite sufficient for a short break. Reception staff were very helpful. Neighbourhood is bit grim at first sight but the hotel is quite close to the main road and we never felt troubled. Breakfast was typically continental (i.e. limited) but adequate although the sight of cooked mixed vegetables and ratatouille at breakfast seemed rather incongruous and definitely unappealing. Free Wi-Fi worked fine on day 1 but was very temperamental after they did something to their server.

The hotel is ideally situated close to the Metro, Trams and Bus links. We liked the easy to use transport system in Budapest and suggest buying a Budapest card for 24/48/72 hours so you can hop on and off the various transport options at your leisure.

Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Check room sizes as most are small although adequate

Thank you for sharing your candid review with us. I was pleased to read that you found our services sufficient altough you experienced the WiFi a little temperamental. This was because we changed and modernized our routers in the whole building therefore everywhere in the hotel you can have the same strong signal and fast speed.
Thank you for being our guest, we are more than happy that you would stay here again. Whenever your travels bring you to Budapest, you are always warmly welcome in our Atrium Fashion Hotel.

Before I say anything about the hotel and Budapest I must mention Renato. This is the most pleasant receptionist I have ever come across in years of travelling. Wanted room changed to brighter room, needed milk, asked for extra pillows. All sorted immediately with a lovely smile. My wife was very impressed, not an everyday thing.
The hotel is ideally placed for the centre just off it. OK the area outside was a bit grubby but definitely safe.
The breakfast was more than adequate, perhaps a couple more toasters needed. The staff at breakfast were always pleasant and kept the place going, clearing tables and re-stocking. Comments about staff not being very friendly are nonsense, just say good morning and you will see! The only problem we had was that we were wakened early by the breakfast tables being set up at 6 o'clock, nothing that a set of ear plugs could not fix.
Budapest itself is pretty cheap for eating and drinking. A large beer ranged from £1 to £3. A decent main course for £7 or a good steak for £10. MacDonald's in Budapest is a lot cheaper than at home and a great place for an ice cream for about £1.30 being the dearest. The MacD's itself puts the UK's to shame, so clean and bright, try it.
Buy a Hop on / off Bus Tour for about £15. This covered 2 bus routes for 48 hours and a boat trip on the Danube which lasted 1 hour if you stayed on the boat. You can get off at Margaret Island and come back later if you have the time.
Take a stroll along the banks of the Danube.Go up to the castle using the hop on bus and walk back down and over the bridge to town.
The shops ranged from euro shops to top designer shops with everything in between.
The downside to the city is some of the poverty with people living on the street but they do not bother you and are not aggressive if they hold out a cup for change.
All in all a great city break, we were there for 3 nights and felt that was enough to see most of it.
Sorry to repeat myself but THANKS AGAIN RENATO !!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Room 107 was fine and had a permanent card for power which meant you could leave the air con on when...
