“Good outweighs the bad! Crazy nights, crazy people. ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014 via mobile

Cleanliness is very poor, mattresses are pretty bad as are the sheets.. However.. This hostel is named as a party hostel and therefore travellers shouldn't expect too much in terms of a great sleep. Budapest is one of Europe's party capitals, if you want quiet look elsewhere. The atmosphere in this hostel is 12/10. It's so easy to meet people and there is always something going on. The staff know what they are talking about, they can recommend all types of party or pub depending on what you want to do. As for security, yes it is limited but only people staying at the hostel can actually enter it as there are electronic wrist bands.

If you want to party and meet crazy people, and don't care for a great nights sleep or a clean shower, this is the place for you. I would go back purely for the atmosphere. The positives really outweigh the negatives as the hostel is located above one of the many awesome ruin pubs.

Staff is not nice and the rooms, showers and toilets are really dirty (almost never cleaned). They wake you up at 10 for a "morning shot", which is a challenge you can achieve. The bar is just next to the rooms so it is really noisy. I wouldn't recommend this hostel at all.

Absolutely dirt cheap for such a fab place, rooms are good, not particularly quiet if you are above the ruin bar but not a problem if you're going out anyway. Staff are brill and they have something to do every night, can't wait to come back!

This hostel is not the most well-equipped or the most clean, however what it lacks in these departments it makes up in other ways.
We checked in at 10am and were taken to our room. Unfortunately there was still the linen on the bed from the previous people. Usually this does not bother me too much but we had arrived in Budapest at 6am after an overnight coach where I hadn't slept so I was very eager for a nap but had to wait for linen and then make the bed myself! Also during our stay the shower broke but this was fixed the same day fairly efficiently.
The location is good- just a few metres very near several pubs, bars, takeaway restaurants and the Spar supermarket is very close too. It is also about a 15 minute walk away from the main city centre with all the nice buildings, picturesque scenery and the Chain Bridge separating Buda and Pest.
The staff are very friendly- they are often travelleres themselves and are eager to make friends with people who are staying in the hostel. There is some sort of event every night in the hostel (e.g SPA-RTY, BBQ, pub crawl, boat party etc) and the staff are very keen to get everyone together and go to the event together.
We went to the SPA-RTY which is basically a pool party that takes place in the spa baths in the city centre on a saturday night. We had some pre drinks with the staff and other people staying in the hostel and then all took the Metro together. I loved how easy it was to meet people here! It was a very fun night but didn't end once we left the baths- there was more drinking and talking back at the hostel. It was about 5 or 6am when we went to sleep. It was such a fun night. However if you are not prepared to put up with noise until the early hours and are after a more quiet and calm stay, I do not recommend this hostel.
The security is not the best- there are no room keys and no key to enter the hostel from the street. However, there are a few lockers in the rooms for valuables. The main entrance is also guarded by bouncers in the evening as it is also the entrance to a bar/club so this provides some sort of security. Despite this, most people staying in the hostel are like minded travellers and have no intention of steeling. I just hoped no one from the street would sneak in and steel my stuff. Luckily nothing like this happened.
This is fantastic hostel to meet people from around the world and have fun for a few days. I'm not sure I could stay for longer than that.

Travelled Europe for a month & this was the worst hostel by far. So bad that I didn't stay a night there. No security, anyone can walk into your room... Intact I left shoes there for 2 nights as I was in such a rush to get out of there, 3 days later I just walked into the room picked up the shoes and left showing how anyone is able to walk in.
The pictures are nothing like the hostel. A block of foam is your mattress and it was full of hair and pubes. The toilets are vile and the showers have no door so anyone can see you, no privacy at all!
Our sheets were put on the floor and when we picked them up they were black. It's so disgusting on the floor in the rooms.
Staff were very rude when we told them we didn't want to stay a night, she just waved at us and said bye then. They weren't interested in why we didn't want to stay.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

The worst thing about this hostel has to be fact that none of the doors lock, not the main entrance or your room, therefore anyone in the club below could potentially walk into your room at all hours of the night (one man actually did walk in and ask to use the toilet at 2am!)
The second worst thing about this hostel has to be the general lack of cleanliness and fact that it looks like a building site! There were piles of bricks, scaffolding and rickety wooden railings that looked like they had been just nailed up in 5 minutes. Put it this way - health and safety would have a field day with this place!
In our room the main light didn't work. The bathroom was the worst bit however as only 1 toilet had a light - the other was pitch black. One shower was literally on public show to everyone in the room, the other was in a pitch black room, and was a pipe you had to hold over your head. You basically had to choose between a public shower or a shower in the dark! And when we (2 girls) arrived in the room there was a 40 year old man showering naked in the public shower.
The staff although friendly didn't seem to really be on top of anything. Our room was never cleaned and we were there for 3 nights. One day a man arrived in our dorm and the staff member literally had to move old bedding from a previous guest so this man could have his bed.
The only plus about this hostel is that it is very cheap and is in a good location to explore all of Budapest by foot.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Paris room, beware if like to shower privately and with light!

If you're going to be out partying until the early hours, this hostel is perfect for you. The staff take the guests out on evenings out and day trips, and always have excellent recommendations on what to see and where to eat. The bathrooms are grotty but for the price it wasn't as awful as it could have been, and they were cleaned every day. And what they lacked in pristine conditions they made up for in character. The ruin bar below is fantastic, it is in an absolutely prime location for sightseeing, and it's outrageously cheap.

Security is a bit of an issue because the rooms don't lock and it is directly above a ruin bar which is open on weekends, but there are lockers provided for valuables. Noise is also an issue, but I'm a heavy sleeper so it didn't bother me too much - it was more the lack of curtains that I struggled with!

Dear batmaz,

Thank you very much for your glowing review on us! It is great for us to see that you had a great time with us, and could also greatly benefit from our location and creative and helpful staff! Although most guests of our hostel visit us to party until they drop (hence our name), we would also like to please our guests who seek us out to have a great location for excellent value; we are glad that we succeeded in doing that.

We are also happy that you had no problem sleeping, which is, based on our feedback, the Achilles heel of a party hostel for many; and we will also look into fitting the rooms with curtains, thank you for your remark on that.

Sincerely,

The Infinity Hostel Team
