After a late evening walk with my wife we felt we wanted to have a snack and a drink, so we wandered about the Liszt Ferenc ter area of Budapest, looking at the host of different spots. What attracted us to the Korhely was the live jazz/swing music and the friendly steampunk-light interior. The service was all we expected, fast friendly and attentive. It was a Saturday night at the place was abuzz. My wife had the cucumber celery soda and then a lemonade and I had a Virgin Sex on the Beach (bit of a oxymoron). We weren't hungry but the creative menu convinced us to have a dessert and we had to hold ourselves back from not having a whole meal - next time. My wife had a chocolate pudding bomb with creme and egg nogg - luxurious! I went for something very daring, a sweet salty dessert - oatmeal crust with sweetened bacon rind filing and yogurt jelly on top with red onion jam - and it WORKED! The waiter congratulated me for my bravery! It was like a unique cheese cake really - a new Hungarian dessert!
The place is open late late night and is another great place that has traditional Hungarian food with a twist! I look forward to going back again!
