“Beautiful Hotel in a Beautiful City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2009

Lanchid 19 is a beautiful design hotel at the foot of Castel Hill in Budapest. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were great. We had a castle view room, and it was really great.

Just returned from 7 days at this hotel in one of their top-end Panorama Suites. The location is hard to beat if you want to be in Buda, and the 7th floor room had a beautiful terrace and spectacular 180° view of the Danube, Chain Bridge, Parliament and the Pest skyline. The room was very stylish and very comfortable, as are the common spaces. Staff was helpful and eager to please, although I can't say that you will receive Four Seasons-level attention: they are a bit young and inexperienced, and hotel management was not much in evidence. I would definitely stay there again. Direct competition is the Art'otel, a few blocks up the street also on the Danube banks. The other high-end hotels (Gresham / Four Seasons, Kempinsky, Intercontinental, etc.) are much larger and offer a very different experience so I don't think comparisons are too apt. This is a small, wonderfully located, stylish boutique hotel. If that's what you're looking for, you won't be unhappy.

This was touted by Timeout guidebook as a designer hotel. Yes, the outside and common areas have a designer look. Inside, was not too impressed with the minimalist decor and plastic chairs. Following other readers comments, we ate breakfast at coffee shop a few doors down.

We stayed there during Formula One weekend so the hotel rate was US$200 p.n. However I think the normal rate is around US$130 all in, which is pretty good value (also high speed internet was free). However for convenience, I would stay on the Pest side were all the bars/restaurants and all other sites are located (other than castle and spas). It takes around 15 min. to get to the Pest side.

Btw, most taxis rip-off tourists so we tried to avoid them, that's another reason for staying on Pest side.

What a great place to stay on the banks of the Danube. The rooms are exquisite, the service is exemplary, and the food is delicious. Wonderfully located across the river from Pest near the Lanchid and opposite the Parliamnet. Located next to the Buda fortress and easily accessible by car and mass transit. Beautiful walks along the river. Friendly and very informative staff. Highly recommended!

This is a lovely boutique hotel on the Buda side near the Chain Bridge. The staff was very accommodating. They offer a nice buffet breakfast for an additional charge.

Very nice hotel, tastefull in all little details. The situation is good and the view extraordinary.(Take a room in the upper part with view on the Danube, you will nor regrett to pay some more!)
The breakfast is good, I don´t understand the bad comments. The personal very friendly, in one word: a good option.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel about 10 days ago. We had the double room and as mentioned by others, the rooms are nicely designed with a small enclosure acting as a wardrobe. The room itself has a very nice view of the danube, chain bridge and a partial view of the Parliament, four seasons hotels, Hotel intercontinental (directly opposite, actually). The best view is actually from four seasons (as expected, duh!) where you can see the chain bridge, buda castle (essentially just above and behind the hotel).

Hotel is walking distance to both chain bridge and the funicular to the Buda castle, about 5 mins walk. Nearest metro, Batthyany Ter, is however a little further, i would say at least about 12-15mins brisk walk. As a result, we did not take the metro very often and choose to walk a little more across the bridge to the main shopping area, Vaci Street, which takes about 30mins from the hotel.

Breakfast is ok, the bed is a little soft, other than that, the hotel is considered very good value for money, but a little too far from the city. However, as you will likely spend at least a day on the Buda side for the castle and maybe the Gellert hill area, it isn't a deal breaker. At least you get a nice view of the chain bridge, that only four seasons, intercon and sofitel can beat..
