“Great location, nice hotel”
Reviewed 16 August 2013

It has a perfect location right by the Saint Stephen's Basilica, hence the name.
The rooms were clean, the reception and restaurant staff was nice and friendly, for breakfast there were plenty of choices.
Though, in the bathroom sometimes unpleasant smells came up from the sink-holes.
One morning we woke up for a fire drill: loud alarms and the air-conditioner turning on automatically. It was a false alarm, perhaps someone was smoking in one of the rooms (all the rooms are non-smoking equipped with smoke-detectors).

We recently stayed at this hotel which is in a great position for the city.
The reception staff were all very friendly and helpful, the room we had 410 was nice and peaceful set in the middle part of the hotel.
Breakfast was ok plenty of choice investment in a toaster would be good felt sorry for the girl running around clearing tables and replenishing the breakfast items maybe 2 staff might help.
We will be back next next year for sure.
Erzsebet square is great the atmosphere around the bars and the bands playing really made our 4 night stay really enjoyable.

Stayed for four nights. Arrived late evening and as soon as we were checked in located a restaurant just around the corner which was reviewed here on Trip Advisor, we were not disappointed. After we walked down to the river which is approximately 10/15 minutes walk away. While we were in Budapest the river was in flood. On our first night there were people 'on duty' watching the height of the river and there were lots of sandbags in use. Then back up to the hotel. The room was of an average standard with a good sized bathroom, As others have said the beds are quite low but this seems to be usual in eastern European countries. There was no external noise and we slept well.
The breakfast on each morning was the usual standard fare. Again as others have said a toaster would be good. Not had chilli beans for breakfast before!
We found the staff to be pleasant and very helpful. One member of staff booked tickets for us to go and visit the state parliament building. We had booked a taxi to pick us up from the airport and for the return journey and this worked well for us.
We didn't actually use any public transport we just walked everywhere. There are plenty of restaurants nearby to suit a range of budgets and almost next door an ice cream shop which sells the most delicious ice creams with very different flavours!
It is the location of the hotel which would make up for any deficiencies. It does have an excellent location and we would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.

i stayed 3nights over the weekend. the location was perfect for a weekend break in budapest. subway stations within a few minutes walk and very close to chain bridge. the room facing the court yard was small but ok. the aircon worked except you cant control the temprature. i got a little cold during the night. services and breakfast wasnt anything special but i may go back because of the location.

We had a nice experience at this hotel. The Superior room was spacious and clean. Our A/C unit didn't seem to keep our room very cool, and our internet was terribly slow. You must pay extra for internet, PER DEVICE/PER DAY. They charge you for any extras here. Some of the staff seemed happy to have you there and a few others seemed inconvenienced - it's seemed to be hit or miss for whether we would be greeted with a smile or a snub. The location was superb, and the service & room were just okay. If you don't care about service and comfort, this place is perfect for being closest to the Basilica, city life, clubs, restaurants, and shopping. It's certainly ideal for all access to all that beautiful Budapest has to offer.

Room Tip: Be prepared to pay extra for internet, per device / per day.

Best part about the hotel is its central location. It is literally 100m away from the Saint Istevan Basilica and less than 5 mins walk from the metro stop. There are lots and lots of cafes, bars and restaurants within half a mile radius of the hotel. The hotel does not offer free wi fi which is annoying but most of the cafes and restaurants around the hotel offer it.

Stayed for a night in a room on the 3rd floor and it faced into an internal courtyard. Aircon is controlled centrally and one is not allowed to open the windows. Unfortunately the aircon in the room started malfunctioning at night making it difficult to sleep. Bed was too low and not very comfortable. It is possible that mine was a one off experience as no one else in our group had problems with their rooms.

Service can be erratic depending on who the receptionist is. The day we checked in the man at the counter was extremely rude and unapproachable. However I had a completely different experience with the night staff and with the day receptionist (Laszlo) next day. Laszlo was extremely patient and helpful with all sorts of queries/ issues on several occasions.

I may consider staying at this hotel again given central location and assistance by Laszlo. However would ask for a better room.

TIP: For exchanging currency, there is a money changer just 20m from the hotel but the K&H bank on opposite side on same street gives better rates.

I stayed in this Hotel during a City break stay in Hungary. The Hotel is central and is close to most attractions. The rooms were clean, of reasonable size and had a fridge, hairdryer and TV.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a continental buffet as you would expect. The hotel is close to all public transport e.g. Trams, buses and underground. It is also situated close a number of very good and reasonably priced restaurant's and is a couple of doors from a wine Bar. For a short stay this is an ideal Hotel to stay at.
