Undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Budapest and the chef competes with the best found anywhere in Europe. Located just outside the castle perimeter on the Buda side this is a cosy restaurant with outstanding service and modern cooking, but not to the extent that you don't know what you are eating!
You don't have to like caviar to enjoy a meal here (my wife had a rack of lamb which she said was 'out of this world'), but if caviar is your thing then the set gastronomic caviar lunch menu for €40, 5 courses, is the best value I have ever experienced. Mention must be made of Nora, the extremely knowledgeable sommelier who selected for us an extraodinary Russian vodka and a delicious Hungarian white wine. Hungary is fortunate to be one of the best wine producing countries and one of the few that can successfully cultivate just about every grape variety, so you can taste a great wine at an affordable price.
Michelin inspectors please take note-why it doesn't have at least 2 stars is puzzling.
