“It is what you pay for.”
Reviewed 21 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Let me preface this by saying that we were a small family: young couple with a 7 month old baby. If we hadn't had a kid with us and were there for drinks, this would have likely been a 4 star (above average).
We stayed from 6 - 12 September 2016 and paid for an extra night upon arrival (as our next stop housing wouldn't be ready) to extend the trip 1 night. Charlie was great; he picked us up at the airport (20 Euros) and had a crib waiting for us in the apartment when we arrived! Unfortunately, there was a heat wave (30+C and humid) and the baby developed heat rash after a couple days. There's no AC and the fan was broken upon arrival. Charlie replaced it about 2-3 days after we mentioned it but sadly, it didn't do much to cut the heat and we resorted to cool baths more often for the baby. Thus, we didn't get out as much as we'd have liked to.
Security was our biggest concern here and the only reason this isn't 4 stars. The back / patio door opens and walks right out to the parking area. The door was broken and didn't feel like it locked very well. There were no screens or other dividers (like a stair gate) between the glass door and people coming and going in the back lot. The building seems secure from the front. The street corner not far away (out front is fine) is littered with people drinking at all hours and some homeless seeming types. It only lasts a half block and is between the apartment and the main ring road. My wife was bothered only once by a drunk seeming guy at 11 am as we passed.
Location to transit is good, the trams and buses and metro are close by. We didn't find the locals at the Spar grocery to be very pleasant so I don't suggest using it without thick skin or someone that speaks the language. There is also a market near by you can hit up. All the sites are at least one ride away.
Overall, if you are backpacking I'd suggest a hostel in a friendlier location (there's some just 4-5 blocks away). If you are a family, I'd pay more and go elsewhere. If you are there for the nightlife or with a college buddy, then this place would be awesome. Kinda wish we had paid for something more but it definitely isn't Charlie's fault that we didn't. 4 starts for location, 3 with the security concerns.

“Great base to explore the city.”

We chose to stay here for 3 nights, mainly because of the cheap price. However it does not feel like budget accommodation an,d after being made to feel incredibly welcome by the helpful and informative host Charlie, we felt very at home. It is only a short walk to town and landmarks, has great facilities and was well equipped with kitchen utensils etc. Only possible thing to improve was the need for a couple more pillows but other than that would strongly recommend.
