I visited a couple of times in my recent visit to Budapest and before going to the Opera House. Splendid decor inside and the coffee and chocolate cake were excellent. I did not like the stairs to the toilets - there did not appear to be a lift. Well worth a visit

We decided to have dinner here based on old world charm and quartet that was playing. Service was good, food was good, but to have such a restaurant with cloth table cloths and cheap paper napkins in inexcusable. They need to "class up."

The restaurant is located next to the Opera House. Starved for a late lunch, we stopped in before our tour of the Opera House. The restaurant is very pretty, service was cool, but efficient. The food was fresh. DH had the wienerschniztel with a salad and I had a chicken caesar salad. They finally brought bread for my husband, but nothing to spread onto it. We requested butter and they eventually brought a plate with six herbed butterballs. He requested some dressing for the salad, but gave up and used mine instead. When the bill arrived, they had charged about $1.75 for the butter! The meal wasn't all that inexpensive, so it came as quite a surprise.

We walked into the empty restaurant without a reservation. we were met by a small group of waiters who asked if we had a reservation. We said no. They said that's ok, we have a table. They showed us to a small table with 3 seats and a childs chair which was unsuitable for four adults. We chose to leave so cannot comment on the food but found the experience very negative.

Located next door to the Opera House on Andrassy. Andrassy is a beautiful tree lined street that is often referred to as the Champs Elysees of Budapest. Well worth a stroll. Café Callas has a very elegant and beautiful interior. We stopped for coffee and dessert and the service was impeccable, everything was lovely. A trio of musicians entertained diners with a variety of music which added a nice touch. Sorry we didn't have the time to have a meal.
