“Not quite 4-Star”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

The rooms were very nice and comfortable, the lobby and cafe well set up. The buffet food was rather average, a stodgy fare, with meat floating in thick sauces and fish smothered under mountains of mashed potatoes. There is however in a corner a small grill set up and if one queued up, one could get some freshly grilled meat. Old hard rolls should not be served at breakfast or dried out slices of bread at dinner. The staff was a mixed bunch from very friendly to just polite, some with not very good foreign language skills. The hotel's own spa area looked nice, we did not use it though because it does not have the special thermal water Bük is famous for. The heated indoor access to the public spa is great, but be warned, the spa gets very crowded and if you are there on a cool day when one cannot sit outside, you will not find a space to put down your towel unless you are there at opening time. If you get a special deal, it is well worth the money, otherwise I would not bother.

I was in autumn 2012 with my partner. The hotel was beautiful, the rooms are clean. The receptionists are helpful and friendly. Our pension is paid in half. Breakfast and dinner was delicious and varied! The hotel is a beautiful park where you can walk and is directly connected to the local medicinal spa are great. Magical weekend in here. We'll be back again.

This hotel has spacious and quiet rooms, excellent service and a friendly staff. The heated indoor access to the spa is an excellent connection to the expanded spa. The hotel's spa pool area, it is small but very clean. Of particular note is the excellent food - taste a treat!
In the preseason, it was an excellent price-performance ratio!
We can recommend the Repce Gold convinced

Overall an OK hotel, if you visit in Bükkfürdő. Seems the hotel had better food and service when opened.

Rooms are fine, a bit dark themed for older guests. Most guests of the hotel are groups of retired people, coming from abroad, from Russia, Germany, Austria, and Slovakia, it seems. There are very few young couples, and few families with young kids.

Food is so-so, it seems the selection and quality was better back when the hotel was opened, it seems. Service was also hit and miss. At many hotels in Hungary they offer better food, especially in spa/wellness hotels.

Based on the reviews, it seems this hotel still one of the better hotels in the town. The spa in Bükkfürdő is newly renovated and amazing, and the direct connection to the baths is a convenient benefit of this property.

If you are a group of retired people with limited budget looking for a baths wellness experience in Hungary, you might want to consider this hotel.

Room Tip: select a room on the higher floors, facing the garden and not the car park.

Repce Gold's guests are typically families and (mostly Austrian) pensioners. The hotel is connected to the large Bük thermal spa and strandbad, but it also has its small pool and sunterrace. It is the most recent built of the Bük hotels (8 years). Rooms' size is OK for two people and each room has a balcony. Room decoration and furniture were in good shape and reasonable.

We were on half board. Both breakfast and dinner had quite sufficient choices and the cousine was suprisingly good for this type of catering. Given the guest profile, the restaurant was crowded at 6 pm, but you could still find table and after 7 pm there were much less people.

The hotel offers sport and gymnastics programs, playroom, biliard, etc to serve its two major customer groups - health tourists and families. There is a golf course at Bük and another one at Zsira (15 km).

I was there for a week playing golf and the whole experience was fine, and good value. It is not luxury, but Bükfüdő is not Miami Beach or the Cote d'Azure either.

In my opinion this hotel is one of the best hotels in hungary. We have stayed in this hotel several times and we always were satisfied with everything. The strong point of this hotel is the heated corridor that joins the hotel with the health and adventure centre.
Rooms are nice, comfortable and friendly. Bathroom was well equipped.
Staff is friendly and nice.
Food is very colourful, fresh like home made food.
There are also some facilities for children(playground, xbox room, baby swimming pool...)
This hotel has its own wellness island.
Strongly recommended hotel.

On arriving we noticed immediately the problem of smoking in the hotel. The lobby is together with the bar, where smoking is allowed (including cigars sold at the bar) . The restaurant close by is non smoking area but the separation is not well made. It’s valid for the stairs/lift area and game area too, so if someone wishes to turn on his cigar in the bar, in common areas you smoke with!

Lunch is only possible in the bar (smoking area), food was ok, service average.

Waiters of the restaurant seemed to be tired: no free table for dinner though hotel was only half booked, to order drinks took ages. Half board food is very Hungarian style but good , though it’s possible to find green salad and vegetables too.

Positive: connection to the thermal bath through heated corridor, nice spa area with sauna in the hotel, Jacuzzi and swimming pool. Bathrobe and towels are proposed for the stay, spa area is really clean.

If you arrive with younger children: in the room rate only the entrance of the thermal bath is included, the Recreation Park-adventure bath tickets are not. Hot thermal water is not recommended for young kids so you have to buy the recreation park tickets anyway. It’s not about the appr. 5 Euro/child/day extra costs, it’s simply the procedure to ask every day for extra tickets, calculation at the reception what is included, what is not…
