We stayed for 5 days in July 2013 with my wife. The hotel is very cozy, a bit quaint but in a good way, apparently family-run. The decorations are arguably a bit overdone but the overall ambiance is still very decent. We had a room on the ground floor with a terrace onto the garden - perfect for sipping a glass of wine after dinner. The room was spacious enough with all the amenities you need. Everything was clean, daily room service was very decent as well. The staff at the reception was very friendly, speaking decent German (can't tell about their English).
Even though it was around 30 degrees throughout our stay the room never was hot to the point that we would want to pay for the extra air conditioning (it looked like the rooms on the ground floor did not have any anyway). Maybe the other reviewers mentioning the A/C surcharge had issues with rooms on the upper floors which may indeed be hotter.
As regards catering. Breakfasts were OK - not overabundant but just fine, comparable to what you can get in most hotels (maybe I just missed some pastries to go with the morning coffee). Dinners were excellent - typically two alternatives for a set 3-course dinner the quality of which was on par or even better than the fare you can get in the three odd restaurants to be found right in the vicinity...We stayed for 5 days in July 2013 with my wife. If you get dinners in a package with the price of accommodation like we did, it's great value.
Wellness zone is very small but functional - it's got a big jacuzzi that can easily accommodate 4 people and a sauna. There are just 18 rooms in the hotel so most of the time there would be just the two of us.
The bottom line - I can recommend this hotel to anyone, it's not the best one I've ever been too but the overall ambiance of a small, quaint, clean family-run hotel somehow grows on you. I very much enjoyed the stay there and would happily return.More
