“Nice location at the base of Tihany peninsula”

We stayed at Panorama for one night during our bicycle ride around lake Balaton. It was absolutely ok, but I agree when another reviewer says that time has stopped. But the location and the view compensates for this.

The hotel has great views over the lake. The beach near the hotel is very quiet and water depth is perfect for swimmers. They offer massage service for an extra cost which my friends really enjoyed. It is also possible to hire bikes which was perfect for us. Breakfast wasn't great but there are loads of little shops around to buy your breakfast from.

Room Tip: ask for a room with views over the lake

Air conditioning was important for me at the booking of the holiday. I read many web sites of hotels by the Lake Balaton, but there are not too much with air condition service. It seems like the time has stopped there. Why to develop, when there are enough guests without this too?
I talked on the phone to a very nice woman. She said they have rooms also with air conditioners (on the 2nd floor), we can book those rooms. But it is not so hot on the first floor anyway. Maybe it had to be suspicious, because a first floor room can’t be cool if it’s 40°C outside. But OK, ours will have A/C, super! One has sea sight and the other park sight.
We looked the room with sea sight at first. It is nice, like on the homepage. The A/C is working, the bath is OK. We looked the other too – it is a little bit shooting box style because of the wainscot, and the bath can be from the ’80s with the socialist realism design. No place for cosmetics, there is only a ramshackle shower and a toilet. They don’t advertise this in their homepage… But there is an air conditioner (apparently). We turned it on. It was blowing something. We couldn’t feel it, but the sun was shining hard, so we needed it. The receptionist said it is more efficient to set it at 23-24°C than at 18. I think they don’t like their electricity bill so much... But OK, we gave it a try. Until it was running, we were going to eat something. We’ve got the info in the restaurant of the hotel that they could need to comply our reservation for about an hour, because they have guests at other 3 tables too. We didn’t want to wait with a 4 months and a 2 years old child so much, so we went to the buffets and the half of the family ate some hamburgers and the other half went to the Lepke restaurant.
We didn’t feel anything from the A/C when we were back. We tried other functions, turned up and down – nothing changed. The receptionist interpreted the message of the manager: “it is hot outside, everybody wants to cool their room, and the air conditioners can cool only like now.” So they did nothing.
During this we discovered some deficiency of the cleanliness. There were dust on the bed sheet, the sinkers were full with hair in both rooms, the couches were dirty, and we found shoeprints on the ceiling. Because the A/C was not working properly, we opened the window. Mosquito net was only on one of the windows. While we opened the others half of the mosquito population of the Lake Balaton flied in the room, and for about 30 new mosquito bites were on my 2 years old son. Not too much air could come in the room on the one we left open (with net equipped). Btw. instead of the promised park sight it had view on a roof with a huge fan (it was switched on all the time, of course), so its noise totally filled the room.
There was no disability support in the hotel. We carried the stroller ourselves, no one of the waiters wanted to help us. There was no elevator in the hotel, so the stroller had to stay in the lobby.
You can read on the hotel’s homepage that they have a private beach. OK, they have one, but it was not maintained, there were swarms of hydrophytes in the water, so we almost couldn’t swim. There is a free beach not so far, but it isn’t a private beach.
We didn’t want to spend our holiday in worse circumstances like we could have at home, so we decided to go away from here (to Hajdúszoboszló, where we got **** superior hotel rooms with heavenly meals for the almost same price).
But it was positive that we could go away without any debate. I think they could give the room to the next sucker shortly, because it is the Lake Balaton. The breakfast was also OK, this two things were the only positive experiences.
This hotel was a huge disappointment and I would NOT to recommend.

Room Tip: Maybe rooms with sea sight are more comfortable. But the best decision is NOT to go there.
