Echo Residence All Suite Hotel
Ranked #10 of 19 Speciality Lodging in Tihany
Reviewed 10 June 2013

I've spent end of May a weekend in this beautiful Apartment Hotel and have enjoyed everything. The food was excellent, the people friendly and helpful and we had any problem with the room... We already booked a weekend for the summer too as this is the nicest and most familiar hotel we staid in Tihany. I can only recommend to everyone - singles, couples, family....

We spent 2 nites here with my girlfriends in May 2013. This is NOT a 5 star hotel, Maximum 3.

Actually the location of the hotel is spectacular, we had a 2 bedroom suite and the enterieur was very nice.
And that's it, dont expect any more positive thoughts here.

The service was poor, for instance we ran out of toilet papers for the morning, asked for some, nothing happened, and need to ask again. You know in the morning 30 minutes is way too long to wait for that stuff. And the same thing happened the next morning too.

Bathroom: dirty and smells as if a homeless killed a bunch of cat there.

The food was the worst of all. Tasted bad bad and extremely salty.

One of the receptionist was nice, but the other one... incompetent, and most probably was missing from those classes where they were thought how to smile.

Best part: Drinking wine on the terrace and scrubbing our foot.

Hotel Not recommended.

Experiencing such a luxury miserable stay as it was here....real joke.
Arrival: tried to park the car somewhere but all parking lot was full of cars (those few free) and the rest was painted with family`s or company`s name so you can`t park there. Finally I went to the reception to ask for help she sent a guy who helped. The guy looked and smelled as a local farmer, as they have no concierge or other helper, so finally I parked our car at a company`s place and had to go up with luggage to the floor as elevator does`t come down to the parking level (-1)
Rooms are basically apartments and they are beautifully decorated but not practically, specially with kids. Metal chairs, glass tables and vases are uniquely dangerous. View is amazing! at least from apartment number 5.
There is no lock on the door inside, so once you entered you just close behind and that`s all. If anyone has a keycard can enter anytime, you can`t lock the door and protect yourself this way.
There was no soap in the bathroom. We asked from the receptionist to send to the room one if possible, she said OK but she was surprised that there must be one soap. So, while we were seated at dinner she came to our table and said she put one soap to the reception desk. After dinner we went to pick up the soap there was only a shower gel on the desk. That means soap to them.
In the room you can find a corner with wash basin and furnished like kitchenett but there are no plates, no cutleries or anything you can use if you want to eat in room. There was no high chair even if we asked for.
Restaurant was the biggest disappointment. The high chair they have is totally unstable, so dirty I was really thinking if I want to use it at all. The sponge in the high chair came our as previous kids probably sharpened their forks on it (this is not the hotel`s fault but not to change or repair is the hotel`s fault).
The waitress was kind. She bring us the menu and she said we have to tell her what we choose. I checked the menu and I did not really understand what can we choose as there was only one starter, one soup, two main course but they said one of them already finished, and one dessert. So she came back to ask what we choose and I just looked at her as a sheep and asked what is the choices? She did not understand me so looked back as a bigger sheep. Finally I explained her and understood so she said sorry and started to bring the menu one by one skipped the soup as we requested.
Starter: salad with apple and duck. Translation: sliced prepared salad slices with no apple and a little piece of bacon kind of meat that was not possible chew.
Main course: slice of pork meat with potato puree. Pork was so chewing and thick and the puree has a water flavor green color, tastless something.
Dessert: no flavor pudding kind of cake.
The ceiling has leakage of water which shows the construction is not good.
At least the drinks were fine (malnaszorp and meggyszorp).
Also the service was weird as this waitress tried to be kind but somehow it came out that she is forcing herself.... felt frustrated.
To reach the spa area you have to go outside which is very inconvenient if weather is cold or rainy. you have to dress up normally to street and then change there and again the same procedure to return your room.
After all we decided to return home immediately as we considered the rest of our stay will be the same or worsen and we paid for a luxury service not for this. Once we decided we put back everything into our car and left. We had no chance to check out as no one in the reception after 9 pm so we just left the room key at the desk.
Such a sad and poor stay in a wonderful place like Tihany.... so sorry for that. Hope they can improve and renew the service and we wish better future to this place.

Room Tip: Apartment number 5 has a nice view.

The hotel was good for the rooms have a fantastic view of the lake. The rooms and a stylish restaurant equipment. Large terrace. The gourmet restaurant is cozy, the wrap is solved. Unfortunately, there are a lot of minor deficiencies. No soap dispenser in the bathroom, stained sofa, modern lamps, the restaurant is dirty kinky, the breakfast room for coffee végigfolyva dries to the tropics. The "SPA" only in the open air can be reached through the winter which makes up much too cold to walk to the pool or saunáig. A sauna for 5 persons is very low so many people. No plunge pool is leaking in several places, the plaster falls ... Dinner is when someone "gourmet" is good, but the breakfast is very poor.

Room Tip: extreme top floor rooms

from my point of view unbelievable big appartaments, include big balcony with table, two bathrooms, modern furniture and tv.
only light disadvantage are beds, which are of type Sofa (not solid), it means sometime uncomfortable sound of strings or so..
buildings on nice place above lake - very very nice view on lake from balcony!!
nice fitness with pool!
nice restaurant - both interier and service.
breakfast self service - ok, but dinner of rather modest quantity and probably average quality due to star rating of hotel.
only little disadvantage is that centre of Tihany city is cca 1km (or slightly more?) of walk.

Room Tip: wish a room with a nice view to lake :-)

The hotel is in fact a condominum development with a restaurant and a reception. It used to be 5* - I doubt anyone from the stuff ever has an understanding what is 5*. Now it is just 4* but by mistake the 5* logos are left in quite many places.
The aircon does not work in the room just like the curtains so we've been waken up by sun 6:30 in the morning. Spiders are everywhere out on the corridors, staiways and it seems the cleaning staff gave up on them or they simply just don't care. It was like on the National Geograpy Channel. We foud 8!!! spiders in the roomas well. Quite big ones. I do not have phobia, and I am quite fine with spiders but for god's sake it supposed to be 5*!!!
When I mentioned it to the reception they did not even apologize.
The food was avarage but the service was terribly slow we had to wait 20-45 minutes to get one food after the other.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Echo Residence All Suite Hotel, in a picturesque environment and with an extraordinary panorama to the Lake Balaton, is the island of tranquility, far from the bustle of the cities, providing an excellent opportunity for leisure and recreation. When setting up the suites, besides elegance and harmony, we paid special attention on our guests to feel at home even during a longer family repose. All sections of the variedly arranged suites of 530 to 700 square feet ground space, 12 two-roomed suites with one bedroom (Deluxe Suites) and 6 three roomed suites with two bedrooms (Echo/Echo Premium Suites), possess their own terraces. In three two-bedroomed suites you can use its own finnish sauna (Echo Premium Suites). Our "Minimal" furnished suites were created especially for families with children. These have the most perfect view of lake Balaton, and the shortest way to the beach, so the unpatient youngest can splash into the waves almost in no time. (Please note that the extra beds in these suites are pill-out sofas, not king-size beds.) Ground-floor suites have direct access to the garden, while upstairs suites offer a splendid outlook to the Lake Balaton. Suites are provided with air conditioning, flat-screen TV, bathroom, mini bar. One guarded parking lot is granted free of charge per suite, but you can use our garage for a fee. Free WiFi is ensured in the lobby, the restaurant and the conference hall. The hotel provides a 12-hour reception daytime, and concierge service night time. ... more   less
