Boutique Hotel Malomkert
Ranked #5 of 6 Hotels in Veszprem

The building was a former mill, it is reflecting in the modern design as well. The city is within a walking distance, 10 minutes from the castle area. The hotel is new with a friendly atmosphere. The staff was extremely helpful especially at the reception. The meal in the restaurant is a fair price for value. Maybe the breakfast service can be improved both in terms of quality and friendliness but overall we will go back for sure.

Room Tip: If you travel with family, the Levendula room is just ideal.

This hotel has beautiful, big and clear rooms. The rooms are a mixture of old and modern style, so very interesting. Service are very friendly, and everything was fine. We had room with outlook to the castle of Veszprém, so nice and romantic. Hotel has private and guarded parking. The area and the rooms are so quiet if no event in the Hotel. Free wifi in the hotel with more hotspot. Big LCD TV in the rooms. The hotel has its own restaurant and beerhouse, with many good and tasyt meal and beer.
Negative: The room number 110 has very bad layout if you want to lay in bed and watching the TV. The thermostat was not working well, sometimes it was very warm, sometimes cold. I think little bit overpriced Hotel.

Room Tip: Don't choose the Room 110 if you want see the TV in bed.

Location: It is located in the valley, with a great view to the old city. The downside is that to get to the old city you'll have to climb the streets...

Service: First day it was 25ºC (hot). The room was boiling and the AC wasn't working. The answer form the front desk was. SORRY IS WINTER.

Service2: Second night we decide to eat at their restaurant and try their beer (the hotel is also a brewery). When I asked the waiter for sample glasses to try their beers (of course I told him that I want to pay) he replied that there are not sample glasses, that I have to pay for the full glass. In that moment I called the manager. He never showed up. We end up leaving the restaurant and going to another hotel (one block away) that have a beautiful restaurant and a better service which I really recommend. It's call OLIVA. My next visit to Veszprem I will defenitly stay there.

Room Tip: We stood in room #2. You'll have a great view to the valley.

As part of my honeymoon I spent 2 nights here. The room was burning hot upon arrival, I asked to put the A/C on. They said "Winter is here - there is no more A/C." Not true. About 4 hours later someone came to "turn it on" but only hot air blew, so we turned it off. The room was baking in sun all day long. Nobody helped us with our luggage. There is no soap in the shower because this is an "eco" hotel apparently. Only liquid shampoo. Due to being eco, the fridge did not work since the hotel key card was required for any electricity to run, so the fridge did not function and so all my food got spoiled and drinks were barely cool at best from being in the fridge overnight while the card was in its slot. The room was modern and chic and the bed was comfy, but it was so hot! When we went to eat dinner at the restaurant (where they also have a microbrewery and they brew their own beer - 3 types) we asked for a tasting of beer (in a shot glass) so we could decide which one we wanted to order a glass of. They said no tastings. We said we'd pay for it, but we'd like to taste the beer before buying. They said no way. They called the manager of the restaurant on the phone and he said no. I told them they lose more beer when pouring the beer out of the tap then what I was asking for in a little taste. So I then recommended they put a tasting on the menu so people could pay and get a little of each beer they make there (all the breweries I've ever been to do so).So we got up and left and ate dinner up the street at another hotel, where they brought us an entire glass of beer to taste first for free!
Also half the dinner staff was in the breakfast room folding linens while one waiter (who was very busy) waited on the entire restaurant, so consequently service was slow. Too bad we never got to eat there - the food looked decent. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and they even served freshly made eggs to order..this was the best part of staying there. However the service all around the hotel was awful. They did not put the customer first and I would never stay there again nor would I recommend it to anyone going to the lovely town of Veszprém.

Room Tip: They turned an old mill into a boutique hotel - great concept, just not fully executed. Make sure th...

We stayed here for 3 nights earlier this summer and found we made a good choice as it was a new place that was once an old mill. It was really well designed (exposed brick and wood) and the rooms that we saw were quite good.

There are a few rooms inside the main building (as well as a conference room) and then there are other rooms in two modules behind the main building. I believe each one had 3 rooms and had their own small terrace that had a nice view of the old town that is perched above the valley.

Each of the rooms have names and we were given the room named Arpa. While it was fine, it seems to lack a bit compared to the other rooms as there was no terrace and the window wasn't all that large and one couldn't enjoy the view. It also above the restaurant's terrace so, if open, one could hear patrons late into the evening. (it wasn't necessary to open it though as the air-conditioning worked very well and the sound was insulated) It seems that this is probably the least favorable room as we did notice a cobweb and some dust in the room when we arrived. Possibly the Vad Korte room next to it was a bit of an upgrade to the Arpa room as it was larger.

The service staff, by Hungarian standards, was great. English was spoken was okay and the staff were very accommodating for our requests. The restaurant's offerings for lunch and dinner were good for the most part. However the breakfasts were a bit of a let down as we've had better breakfast spreads in more modestly appointed hotels in Hungary. For example, only the only cereal available was corn flakes, they only offered one kind of omelette. (although they did have have a small notice that they do make eggs to order) Probably good for Hungarians, but not well-suited for people used to more established hotels.

The place markets itself as a beer boutique hotel as they have some equipment on display but they do not make it on the premises. The beer that they serve on draft and in bottles comes from a small brewery called Stari in the neighboring city Tapolca. Those beer offerings were good by Hungarian-standards (pilsner, wheat beer, cherry beer and Irish red) but I am a hard judge on beers and I believe the brewery needs improvement to get to attain craft beer status. But for the average person the crowd-pleasing beers are okay.

The location is good as it is in a valley and is a short, but uphill, walk will get you to the old town. The same owner has a similarly named cafe that is across the creek about 100m away that is worth having a relaxing drink or some ice cream.

Room Tip: Try to get one of the rooms that are not inside the main building.

Boutique Hotel Malomkert is relatively new and it shows. The hotel is in good repair. The design is modern and looks pretty good. The location is good too. The hotel is off the center so it is quiet. However, you can reach the old town just by a short walk.

The room is not too large. The a/c was not working and it was hot outside. This had negative impact on sleep quality. The selection of English speaking channels on TV was very limited.

The breakfast was good. The raw materials were of high quality. The coffee was excellent.

Overall, Malomkert is a nice hotel in nice town and I recommend both of them.

We stayed as part of an anniversary celebration trip in the region, and are glad we chose the Hotel Malomkert. The appearance is marvelous -- exposed beams with beautiful light wood flooring and a clear view of a stream running underneath the floor in the lobby. Everything is energy efficient (your room key engages and disengages the electricity to the lighting in the room; hallway lighting is motion sensitive, etc.), and our room was absolutely gorgeous and quiet. The breakfast buffet was decent, and the additional items cooked to order (egg/omelet variations) were excellent, all included in the room offer. The night before, we also enjoyed a pleasant dessert in the restaurant, and from what we could see of the dinner dishes served, the kitchen does a very nice job.

The hotel is located a short walk downhill from the bus terminal, and also a relatively short walk downhill from the town center -- which is the only downside to their wonderful location. The walk into town is a pretty steep climb! (But very much worth it.)

We are already making plans to return for another stay just to enjoy the peaceful environment and pleasant surroundings.

Room Tip: The rooms on the top floor seem to be the most interesting and spacious, but all the rooms are more...
