“Very accomodating of our mess up!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

We accidentally booked a 1-way ticket Bratislava to Vienna, when we actually meant Vienna to Bratislava. Turned up at the dock in Vienna and realised our mistake. The captain very kindly talked on our behalf to head office and cleared that it was ok for us to take the journey the other way. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

The trip itself is very speedy, nice scenery along the way. It's a bit enclosed, but if you want some fresh air then you can go round the side. The dock at the Bratislava end is very close and convenient for town - at the Vienna end it's a bit more out of the way, but with an easy Metro connection to town.

“A great way to travel between the two cities”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014

We flew from England to Bratislava and then took the hydrofoil to Vienna. We saved a ton of money this way. I reckon the flights and hotel were at least 50% of the cost of going to Vienna direct. The hydrofoil is a wonderful way to travel down the Danube. You can take in the views, have a drink, and generally wander about the boat at your leisure. It takes 90 mins and is comfortable and interesting. We booked in advance and paid the extra 5 Euros or so to get the front 3 seats. I highly recommend you do that. It makes the whole experience 100 times better. We took the train back, and whilst the train was 30 mins quicker and 5 Euros cheaper, it was nowhere near as much fun!

“A bit boring after the 20 minutes”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 December 2013

We needed to return to Bratislava from Vienna to get the plane home so we decided to take the boat along the Danube. It is quite a boring trip after a while, all there is are lots of little fishing huts all along the river on both banks, it's very flat and there are next to no views. Every now and again a huge barge makes an appearance to break up the monotony. Things pick up as you appraoch Bratislava for the last 15 minutes. Bratislava is a large town but with a very small city centre which is very pretty, the tourist office were kind enough to let us leave our small suitcases with them while we looked around. You can do all the streets in a couple of hours, the beer is bery good and very cheap. We took a bus to the airport, the bus drivers are completely nuts, they accelerate as quickly as they can then slam on the brakes when they get near the vehicle in front, not recommended. The airport is very plush and modern but the only beer they sell is 12%.

“A quick smooth trip from Bratislava to the center of Vienna”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 November 2013

We traveled by train from Budapest to Bratislava and had good views at times of the River Danube and the countryside. We had inquired about buses but apparently they are only for local places. When we got off the train we could not find any information office so we had to ask at a shop about what bus to catch to get into town center. Once their we had a good wander around trying to find a hotel and finally find one. Talking to the receptionist we discovered that there was a fast ferry running from here to Vienna. We were told it left a short distance away from where we were at the hotel. When we went out for a meal that evening we found the place the fast ferry goes from, only about 15-20 minutes walk down to the Danube from the hotel. Had a meal at a restaurant then to a very comfy bed. Next morning after a good breakfast we got on our way down to the ferry terminal where we got our tickets and waited for it to arrive. Once we had got on board we were soon on our way up the river wizzing past barges and other boats, travelling nice and smoothly. It was rather dull weather on leaving but it improved as we moved further up river. Enjoyed the scenery as we traveled along the river, finally arriving right into the center of Vienna around lunch time.

“See Bratislava via the Danube”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 November 2013

A fun break from Vienna, we took the only boat at 8:30 am. You would have to reserve ahead for the front 3 seats and it comes with a premium in price. I think it is not necessary in the summer as you can step outside. On cold weather, the front seats are advantageous. The trip takes 70 min long, and is passes through some scenic views. On the way back we took the train, it took about the same time but no views at half the price. Bratislava is a beatiful city, with small city charm. Away from touristy Vienna, with young, vibrant locals and a sad Communist history but promising future. A way to end is to have a drink at the rooftop Sky Bar with gorgeous views
