Massive and grey, situated on a hill so you can see it pretty much from anywhere. This gives you one of the few reasons to visit it - it gives you a good overview of the city.

It's a good place to have a whole view of the city and to take good photographs. A really peaceful place to have a walk.

Walk upstairs on the hill where Slavín is situated is little bit hard in hot summer day. But it is rewarded by beautiful panoramatic view on Bratislava. You can see castle, bridge with UFO, TV tower Kamzík, etc. This place is monumental and I can recommend it.

While the memorial does spark controversial thoughts, it is in fact a great piece of Slovak history that is worth reading about. The memorial's shear size is certainly monumental and the entire property is kept up quite nicely. We visited the memorial in the evening and it was beautiful and tranquil. It sits at one of the highest points of the city and offers amazing views.

Visited in time for sunset and enjoyed the peaceful view out over Bratislava. Poignant story behind the monument which is worth researching. The walk up from the old town was about 30mins and helped to burn some of the calories from a large lunch!
