“My stay at the Radisson Blue CARLTON in Bratislava was a very nice experience.”
Reviewed 2 June 2013

The location is perfect, right at the entrance of the Old City and with a beautiful view to the square and nice buildings. My room (business class) was spacious, comfortable, clean and with a magic view. Make sure you have booked a room on the front side of the hotel - facing the old city- because there are many rooms that have view to nowhere.
Reception Team is very professional and especially Richard that reacted perfectly when I needed a room change to fit my expectations. Whatever I needed was served immediately, (slippers, adaptor, map, and umbrella).
Breakfast is absolutely perfect. Lots of fresh fruits and juices, homemade bread, variety of local cheeses, hams, sausages, live cooking of omelets, all English breakfast food and a lot more that it is impossible to taste them all. Service team is perfect, everybody with a warm welcome and high quality service. I would recommend the chef to consider a few food surprises/ changes every day that would be much appreciated by guests who spend more than 1-2 days at the hotel and need something new.
Hotel Manager was very kind to send me an invitation for a cocktail meeting where I would be happy to participate but I did not see the invitation of time. Ideally, could have been placed in my room from the night before or same morning to allow me to fix my program and participate.
Also I would recommend to organise a better gym - as the existing room is not pleasant.
Overall, I had a great experience and I will definitely choose Radisson for my next stay.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a front site room

I just stayed at this hotel and found the best option in town. It is right next door to the Opera House as well as to the Old Town which is a fun place to go out for dinner, coffee, ice cream. Totally recommend this hotel. You will not be disappointed.

Staff members were very helpful and friendly.

I've stayed at Carlton 3 times during the last six months, both overnight and week-stays. Overall experience is good, clean and neat, rooms does not leave much to ask for, especially if you get a business class room that comes with complimentary morning newspaper to your door and that are equipped with iron and iron board. The nespresso machine is also a delight. Breakfast buffet is big and nice by Central European standards. Only downside is service commitment by staff, sometime you might feel that you are bothering. I don't think that this is something particular for Carlton though, but rather common in Slovakia, at least accordig to native colleagues. If you get a fair price, it's a bargain.

The hotel is in a perfect position overlooking the square with the Slovak National Theatre at one end. It is very central for reaching all the sites and attractions Bratislava has to offer. The room was spacious and clean. We enjoyed our breakfasts and an evening meal on our second night. Unfortunately there was little atmosphere in the restaurant as there was only one other table of diners that evening but the food was fantastic. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again if ever I find myself in that part of the world in the future.

Carlton - it used to be a benchmark of capital city of Bratislava. Excellent location facing the Slovak National Theatre and American Embassy, on the opposite side the Danube River. Hearth of the old city pedestrian zone. Clean, gentle, well kept, spacious, with smiling staff and parking garage...
Only 50 metres close to the Bratislava´s best icecream saloon!
But...
But the restaurant service has two pillars - apprentices and students of the hotel school.
If you love your breakfasts, look somewhere else. During 4 days 4 times scrambled eggs has been like a crumble (and cold), bacon deep fried onto chips (you cannot bite), frozen bread not enough baken, sausages lukewarm, but butter and juice also, as well as poor coffee... Always was something missing on the table. The best choice was French croissant with Austrian marillen (=apricots) jam.
If you choose this prestigious address, you will pay a lot for comfortable rooms, expensive parking (not in the room price included), but too, too much for bad breakfasts and only average level of gastronomy in general. My recommendation - enjoy the Slovak gastronomy in other restaurants, maybe the Sladovna beer pub, Elesko Palace or by my opinion best food in the city - wine restaurant of the Hotel Matysak on Prazska street, about 10 minutes in walking distance. And don´t forget the icecream specialities at Luculus saloon!

The hotel is in a very central location. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. We enjoyed a leisurely walk to the bridge with an unusual modern restaurant at its summit and visits to a nearby church and bishop's palace that had beautiful tapestries.

I had expected something more from one of Bratislava's reverent hotels. The rooms were quite boring, and the view towards the back yard is nothing to be proud of.

Regardless of these unfortunate details, I find the rooms quite big and comfortable. The service is also of high quality, and the reception area, the entrance and other public areas are in good condition.

Compared to other Radisson hotels, this one has some way to go when it comes to room standard and sleeping quality (heavy duvet), but as a Club Carlson Gold Member I felt welcome and I had a great stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view towards the square
