I agree, this place is an ultimate return back to 70´s. Both from outside and inside. Im actually Slovak by origin and this hotel is located near the house where my parents live. I stayed there more than once together with the guests of a conferences I used to organize. I think it is really OK, but my Belgian boyfriend refused to stay there :)
The advantage is that the hotel is located 3 minutes from Polus City Center, one of the biggest shopping centers in Bratislava. In the neighbourhood is the Kuchajda lake which is pretty nice for swimming during the summer and also Pasienky, which is a big swimming hall. Also the trams are near and it is only 15 minutes by tram from there to the downtown.
The rooms are really simple, but were always clean (including the bed sheets and towels). The bathrooms were obviously reconstructed and look more modern than the rest, and were also clean. The rooms have hot water, TV and usually a balcony too.
The double room was around 40 EUR, the breakfast 5 EUR extra. Actually the food prepared in the hotel restaurant is not that bad, but dont expect anything special.
The hotel elevators are quite horrible, obsolete and not looking safe, so I rather used the staircase.
The wi-fi works only in the reception area, not in the rooms!
Btw the hotel has a small gym, a cryochamber and some additional services such as hairdresser, cosmetics etc.
The staff at the reception has always been very friendly. The reception also sells small things like cosmetics, drinks etc.
