“back to 70´s :))”
Reviewed 29 January 2013

I agree, this place is an ultimate return back to 70´s. Both from outside and inside. Im actually Slovak by origin and this hotel is located near the house where my parents live. I stayed there more than once together with the guests of a conferences I used to organize. I think it is really OK, but my Belgian boyfriend refused to stay there :)

The advantage is that the hotel is located 3 minutes from Polus City Center, one of the biggest shopping centers in Bratislava. In the neighbourhood is the Kuchajda lake which is pretty nice for swimming during the summer and also Pasienky, which is a big swimming hall. Also the trams are near and it is only 15 minutes by tram from there to the downtown.

The rooms are really simple, but were always clean (including the bed sheets and towels). The bathrooms were obviously reconstructed and look more modern than the rest, and were also clean. The rooms have hot water, TV and usually a balcony too.
The double room was around 40 EUR, the breakfast 5 EUR extra. Actually the food prepared in the hotel restaurant is not that bad, but dont expect anything special.
The hotel elevators are quite horrible, obsolete and not looking safe, so I rather used the staircase.

The wi-fi works only in the reception area, not in the rooms!
Btw the hotel has a small gym, a cryochamber and some additional services such as hairdresser, cosmetics etc.
The staff at the reception has always been very friendly. The reception also sells small things like cosmetics, drinks etc.

Room Tip: The rooms on higher floors have a better view.

The building looks awful, but inside is not so bad. Room was clean and nice. Service was friendly. Location is very good, over the way is huge shopping center and beside is park with lake. Breakfast was awful, any choice! In any event I would not return.

Returned from this hotel yesterday. Stayed for 4 nights. This is a very basic hotel but I did love the 70's feel! There is wood panelling EVERYWHERE, old-style furniture in the lobby, on floors, etc. which made my stay feel like a trip to 1972!!!

Surprisingly, the bedrooms were quite simple and modern in their look with dark wood panels and white walls - no 70's feel here! Bathroom was small but nice, with a good shower. Also, had a balcony which was nice, and breakfast food was good. There is a big supermarket across the road, and restaurants nearby which is handy.

The things which were a let down are the following:
- Ants in the bedroom. I got bitten quite a bit, and while I'm pretty sure my bites were from flying insects, I did find ants in my bed!
- Gates on the stairs looked a bit prison-like!
- The lifts were literally like dark-brown cattle vans, and were not very encouraging to ride in! Had to keep your finger on the button for your floor otherwise it just kept stopping along the way.
- The balcony floor had broken and missing tiles (the latter were stacked in a pile in the corner) and had not been swept in ages.
- While the bathroom, beds and towels were clean, not all parts of the room were including ceiling and balcony.
- Not sure air-conditioning was working

This was not a bad stay, but I would not rush to stay there again.

The only other thing to add was that I was staying there as part of a sporting event, and when it was over, there was not a large range of breakfast food as there had been previously.

  • Liked — The 70's look and feel!
  • Disliked — The ant problem!
