“'Schoko' in 'Schokocafe' is a bit of an exaggeration”

You would expect a place that claims to be a chococafe to serve the best hot chocolate in town but unfortunately Bon bon beats this cafe to a cocoa pulp. We ordered dark chocolate, one with almonds and one with hazelnuts, and we got a runny chocolate custard with nuts. I am sorry, but I had better hot chocolates. The cafe itself is in a very Viennese style and is pleasant to sit in because of the location and sophisticated feel, but I am not impressed with the quality of the drink that should have been way better. The offer extends to a range of drinks but we did not have time to sample more.

The hot chocolate menu stretches to 2 pages and offer drinks in traditional, white and dark chocolates. They also coffees as well as an assortment of truffles or Bon bons and some cakes. There are no non sweets offers as best I can tell so it really is just for drinks and deserts. That said, what it does is very good. I've had the basic hot chocolate and the bitter with cherry and both are excellent. For American travelers hot chocolate here is a thick drink more like cooked pudding in many ways than the thin watery option at home. The cup is served with a spoon and it seems a much more apt way to consume this than by drinking it.

This is a chocolate-lover's dream cafe. The menu for various types of hot chocolate covered two pages. We tried a plain cup and an almond one. Both were delicious. The cups are large and the hot chocolate is not anything like the North American kind. It is rich and thick and very flavorful. Prices were reasonable and service was good.

This is a nice place if you like hot chocolate, you can find an amazing 26 different
variations. However, if you are hungry, they don't have much to offer. Their
chocolate cake was average, no competition for the Vienese cafes. But it is
cheap and the location is nice, in the main square in the Old Town of
Bratislava.

This is a cafe combined with excellent chocolate store, where you can enjoy the best views of the Main Square. Although the place is slightly more on the commercial side, their hot chocolate with mint is excellent.
