“Good location....”
Reviewed 28 January 2014

Good location. Not far from city center.
Small cabin rooms and a very noisy night club down stairs!
Take your breakfast in the city center...
Nice to wach the river and all the boats...
You can take a one day trip to Vienna :-)

Room Tip: Far from night club entrance!

A catastrophe from beginning to end! We arrived to find the air-conditioning was broken: it was 41 degrees! The toilet seat was broken and the room smelled of sewer. We tried to get a new room, but it was not possible. We tried to get a new hotel, but everything was booked up.

Then the next morning I realized I had been bitten during the night by BEDBUGS!

Some of the staff were somewhat helpful and the breakfast was quite good, but the owner of this place should get a reality check on what he/she promises on the web site!

The great way to see Bratislava and economic is to stay on one of the Botels - there are three of them on the water, a good price, and so nice to be right on the water - however, there is no parking, or you have to park somewhere on the street, or can pay for a secure parking area...
the best is to be near the Danube

The 1st rule of Hotel Botel is dont talk about Hotel Botel. The 2nd rule of Botel Motel is..... You get the vibe. So its a generous 2 stars. The staff were pleasant. It didnt smell. There was no insect infestation. I didnt drown in the Danube. However, the beds were uncomfortable and small. They ran out of water in reception. They ran out of hot water in the shower. The food was poor. The bar was understocked. It had a creepy feel to it. I like to be at sea dont get me wrong, but this felt more P&O than Sunseeker. There was a total Cape Fear thing going down which I didnt necessarily appreciate. On the plus side I was on a stag do. It was near the bars and the casino. There was a stripper boat (awful) next door. Dont go there for luxury or niceness. Its not. Also, its not so much cheaper than the nicer hotels close by. Take this review seriously and categorically dont go as part of a couple...!!

I booked the Botel marina because it had a good location and looked charming in the photos. But that's where the charmed ended. On arrival to the Botel marina it looked Rundown and charmless. When I was walking on the gang way towards the Botel marina I Slipped over on very slippery and dangerous gang way in full view of the manager, he didn't say anything and didn't even Apologise or ask if I was ok. And the Receptionist was very Unwelcoming and rude. The room was very dirty and towels were very Tatty and Ripped. And as for breakfast, the words Ridiculous and Insulting. One day it Consisted of one tomato, teaspoon of Scramble egg, a Sausage, tesco value yogart, Terrible coffee and orange Squash. I was there for about an hr in the Breakfast Restaurant and nothing else was served up. The 24hr Reception wasnt 24hrs, I came back at 23:30pm to find the Receptionist asleep on the Sofa and after Accidently waking him, he was very rude to me. And on another night I was watching tv while I was waiting to go out and another Receptionist a young lad this time was having Sexual Liaison with a drunk girl from the bar down stairs, I was made to feel very Uncomfortable like I was in his house. The only thing I can say was ok about the Botel marina was it's location and wifi. But apart from that it wasnt worth the money and it was Unacceptable. You don't treat paying guest like that. I wouldn't Recommend it.

The room was ok, the service was poor, but the scene at breakfast was really funny and memorable!

The breakfast is included. When we arrived there, there was virtually no food. We took a few pieces of bread to have with the 2 plastic packages of jam left, and then waited a little. No more food appeared. So then my partner asked one of the staff nearby if there would be any more food coming. They sort of smirked and said maybe, but they couldn't do anything about it. They said, "Only the boss can get the food." I guess that's why they were smirking - this scene probably plays out most days. So she grinned and asked them to ask the boss for more food. They did and then from our seats in the restaurant, we saw the boss briskly leave the boat and head toward the city centre. Within 10 minutes, we saw him whisk back up the boat ramp with a partially-filled plastic bag of food. A few minutes later, he personally put out a small package of poor quality cheese and a small loaf of bread, and then refilled the milk jug. We took some of this food, as did others. Then some men in suits came into the restaurant; they saw the small amount of food there and then went to the boss and complained saying there was now almost nothing again, and there were no eggs or meat at all. Again from our seats, we saw the boss rush out of the boat toward the city centre and then back 10 minutes later with the expected plastic shopping bag, this time even less full. Five minutes later, the cold meat slices appeared, soon followed by some scrambled eggs. But the men in suits were already gone and the restaurant was almost empty. The boss scowled. The staff smirked. We laughed all day about it.

So despite the many other drawbacks that other reviewers have mentioned at length, we actually appreciated our time on this botel as we were able to witness such a scene. We still giggle about it!

Good location and accessibility to the city center and the castle. From Indian food we are not excited, every day the same curry sauce. Breakfast was fine, great scrambled eggs and fresh bread. Staff was uncommunicative but otherwise nice. Rooms scruffy but we understand it's old boat. Anyway it can improve the quality of all services because price per night is in our view highly exaggerated.
