We (a couple) went to "Med Malina" for lunch in our visit to Kosice.
We decided to go there around 12pm thinking it would be too early for lunch. However, it was so full of people, we were lucky enough to find an available table!
The restaurant is very pretty. It has home-style traditional interior and many references to raspberries (colours, decorations, etc.). There were fresh flowers in each table, and it was very clean and warm. There were huge windows which brought a nice feeling and a view to the beautiful main street.
We desided to try some Slovakian tastes, so we ordered halusky (potato dumplings with sheep cheese) and pirohy (dumplings with mixed flavors). We were not dissapointed at all as the taste and the proportions in combination with the price were very good! We also had tasty and refreshing raspberry drinks to accompany our meal. For dessert, we ordered sernik (cheesecake) which was also very nice. We paid around 14 euros for everything (including tips). Our bill came with some candies as a treat, which was very sweet.
The only reason why we put 4/5 and not 5/5 for this place is the incident, which we will describe now. As mentioned before, it seems like this is a very busy place. It was very very full, and more and more people were coming. We were so freaked out when an old couple arrived, and as there was no table available for them to sit, they started to ask customers to share their table with them! In the end because other tables were reserved, they persuaded a couple of girls to sit with them. It was so uncomfortable for us and for everyone else to observe this awkwardness! And the worst part is that the waitresses didn't do anything about it. At least, they could have asked them politely to leave and not to push other customers to show their politeness or rudeness. And to make things even worse, it happened for a second time when another "table beggars" came, and they also started to ask for sharing a table. Thanks God noone of them asked us...
All in all, it was one of the best moments of our visit in Kosice, and we really enjoyed the food. However, owner should definately change policy about "sharing tables."
