“Relax on Business”
Reviewed 9 August 2013

Currently I am on a facrt finding trip around Kosice to look for a Hotel to use as the central base for our business trips to the East of Slovakia.

I have now stayed in a couple of hotels in this beautiful city but this by far is the best.

Firstly the complimentary fruit bowl was a welcome treat on my arrival after a 5 and 1/2 drive from the west. Secondly the Health Spa was nice to enable my muscles to relax again after the drive and cool off (it was plus 35 degrees C), please let me pull attention to the fact that you must be naked in in the SPA, I am no prude and have spent many a relaxing time in Sweden where this is normal, however do not be to suprised if some people take this to be a literal interpretation, there is nudism and the is TO MUCH :) but the facilities and the host were both great. Also they give you a complimentary drink voucher which is great to also relax.

The rooms are of a very high standard, the beds are excellent (the mini bar fridge is very quiet) also although it is right in the centre with eassy access to the main cafe/restuarant district (only 5 minutes walk) during the evening it is very quiet with great air conditioning (very important for an Irish guy).

The breakfast was perfect, lots of choice and very helpful morning server. The receptionist was always smiling and happy to see you and no request was to much for them to deal with. I did not try the evening meal but I am sure it would have been just as great. Just one request, maybe the addition of Baked Beans would be very much appreciated by the english, US and IRISH Visitors (I know this a specialist request :))

There are officially higher rated hotels in the area but they are closer to the shopping mall and also the main roads and must be very noisy and further from the main old city attractions also they treat you as a room number!!!! I was there and their service felt more like being some form of farm animal "Hello Mr Room 117!!!". I do not enjoy a hotel stay when they treat you like this.

Hotel Bristol is not 5 star but this is a benefit and not based on their quality. The reason it is a benefit is because they are still focused on customer improvement and do not, like 5 star hotels, believe their own status and they are human there and so very helpful. They are also not a Hotel that says it is a 4 Star hotel and then you arrive to a above average 2 star. They are 4 star and they deserve it.

I will be using them for all my future business trips.

A few helpful tips, their parking is great but becareful if you have a longer or over sized vehicle. Also a note to the Hotel maybe it would be better to place either an automatic trigger for the gate or reposition the bell for exiting vehicles as it is very difficult to press it from your car. However this is only a stupid niggle. Or for a small improvement those on long stays could be given a clicker pass :) just an idea from a lazy Irish Guy:

Thank you for the stay and look forward to seeing you soon.

I stayed here in May for 2 nights. The hotel was a bit hard to find thanks to a GPS that hadn't been updated but once I got there - the location was perfect. It was right off Old Town so I could park the car and walk everywhere. The hotel did offer parking which was a plus.

The staff were very friendly and when I checked out - they were kind enough to tell me my company had special rates with them so they gave me that discount even though I was on a personal trip (huge plus in my books). The room was quite large and had air conditioning which was a plus as I had spent the previous 3 nights in a hotel without it and the rooms had been stuffy. Bathroom was fine as well. Breakfast was ok - typical breakfast buffet quality. Overall, the hotel felt pretty new.

If I am back in the area - I would stay here again.

In Spa is mandatory to nudism. Even being flexible that other clients did, could not use not being naked. There was no information about this rule in our Spa Hotel in booking or, rather, the image of the Spa shows a man and a woman with bathing suits. And how could not use the Spa would clear two nights and I only returned half of the amount already paid. Also, in the book the hotel that is in the room says that the time of 16hours of Spa (from 12 hours on weekends) and ace 22horas is a lie, the hotel is the schedule of 18 hours to 22 hours. Also the hotel bar, a Friday, is already closed at 10.30 pm, with the sofas legs not allowing air to be in the room. Can not speak to the director of the hotel in person during the seven nights we stayed there, and talking to him telephonically was extremely rude.

Fabulous Hotel and Location. Great staff - very helpful and spoeek English very well. Small enough to be personal and large enough to have mod cons. Parking at the back of property with full security. We will not stay at another Hotel in Kosice - this is the one.

Room Tip: We took the top floor which meant taking the Lift to the floor below and walking up the final stairc...

The Hotel Bristol was excellent in every way. The staff are warm and friendly and extremely helpful. We stayed in the business suite as there were three adults in our group. This is a lovely and large room at the top of the hotel. They supplied a lovely travel cot for the baby. We cannot find fault in anything. They went beyond the norm or the expected to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I can recommend this hotel with confidence.

It's been a couple of years since my last stay in the Bristol, and it felt nice to be back, none of the previously high standards have slipped.

The lobby area and bar are cosy and welcoming, the staff always greet you with a smile. The breakfast buffet is great, everything fresh and well presented.

On previous visits I have been a single occupant in a double sized room, but on this occasion I had a single room with a single bed. The room at first seemed rather small and dark, but over the duration of my stay, I got used to it, so it was not really a problem for me as a lone traveller. Everything was provided - safe, toiletries, great aircon, modern satellite tv, fast and reliable wifi. The bathroom (showerroom) was small, but not too small, it was adequate and everything spotlessly clean. One criticism of the room was lack of plug sockets, the only one visible was in the corner, behind the chair, so not easy to charge laptops and smart phones.

To conclude, I have been a regular visitor to the DoubleTree over the last couple of years, and have also tried (and really liked) the Yasmin, but staying at the Bristol again this week reminded me that the Bristol has a certain charm which the other two somwhow lack. I look forward to staying here again.

Small 4* hotel in a downtown. Rooms are nice, but really miniature, food is good, friendly, helpful staff, what I really didn't like was wellness. It is open for public, so if you want to rest after long ride, it's "mission impossible", wellness is full, noisy and for me really dark (it's in a basement). For the price you can choose something better in Kosice.
