“Excellent hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 January 2012

I stayed here four nights in Christmas-holiday and hotel was very good surprise, and really value for money. Room was clean and well designed. Location is good, easy to walk to shopping center Akropolis and buss station is near. I recommend the use of local transport, that's cheap. Next time I'll stay here again!

A modern hotel across the road from the intercity bus station, & a 5-6 min walk from the train station. A bus to the airport leaves from the stop opposite the hotel. The Old Town is a 25-30 min stroll away, or can be reached via a few of the trolleybuses from the same bus stop. St Michael the Archangel Cathedral is a 12-15 min walk away. Apart from a small 8-22 hour supermarket, I could not see any cafes or restaurants near the hotel to catch dinner on a late arrival.

The rooms & bathrooms are compact. Rooms have a satellite TV with several channels, including 4 english ones, telephone, twin beds, bedside lights, a wardrobe, dropdown desk, & a chair. Bathrooms are equipped with a small shower cubicle, heated towel rail & hair-dryer. Corridor & stairway lights come on by movement sensors.

Breakfast is a great hot & cold food buffet. The hot food selection includes baked scrambled eggs, ham crepes, sausage, & tasty thick porridge. The cold selection includes a range of sliced ham, salami, cheese, boiled egg, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, olives, pickled onions. The usual variety of cereal & watery sugary juice. Also sliced rye & grain bread, bread rolls, pastries, fruit. Nice coffee & sachets of black, green & fruit Gurmans tea.

There’s a computer with free internet access & a City Information website port in the lobby. The hotel also has a bar-restaurant on the roof with widespread city views from the terrace. I did not eat there, so cannot comment on the experience.

Stayed here two nights.

Service was great since the receptionist spent considerable time hunting my lost wallet from the bus company.

Rooms were good but noisy.

Price-quality ratio was with the deal I got.

Travelling by car this is an excellent hotel. Easy to find about 15 min away from city center.
Free guarded parking space. Nice and helpful staff. The hotel restaurant provides good value for money food. Nice bar on the roof- top. The rooms are clean but rather small.
No air-condition in the rooms.

Room Tip: Try to get a romm towards the yard. Less noise.

This hotel is just across the road from the bus station. As I was visiting for one more night on my way to a wedding in Marijampole I just wanted to drop off my bags and explore the town. For this it was good.

The communal areas of the hotel were good and include a roof top terrace where you get get food and drinks.

My room was clean and an ok size.

The problem I had with the hotel, which maybe should be expected as it is opposite the bus station, was that it was very noisy. My room was at the front of the hotel facing onto a busy road. There was no aircon so I had to have the window open or it would have been too hot.

The traffic I may have been able to cope with but because you have to slam the doors to the rooms this added to the noise. There was much coming and going and door slamming until the early hours. At one stay someone even knocked on my door, I assume because they'd forgotten where there's was. All in all I had a really bad night's sleep.

Breakfast was OK though!

We stayed here for only one night prior to moving onto Vilnius and were very happy with our choice. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the train station and just over the road from the bus station. Unfortunately this means that it is probably a taxi ride to the old town or main shopping area. Nevertheless, the hotel is spotlessly clean with lovely staff, with good beer! The restaurant on the roof is lovely and cheap and the roof terrace givers great views over the city and well worth stopping at for a drink. I'm pretty certain we had more than one whilst sitting there!
There are a few decent cafe/bars in the vicinity on the road up to the station. Would definitely stay there again.

Kaunas may not have so much to offer to tourists, but it has an airport for budget airlines, so you may find yourself in the city and wondering where to stay. I can surely recommend the Magnus Hotel. It's located very conveniently next to the central bus station which connects Kaunas with the rest of Lithuania. Every hour a bus goes to and from the airport for only 2 LTL. The ride takes 50 min. A taxi takes 25-30 minutes but you will be ripped off by taxi drivers charging you 50 LTL or more. The hotel is modern, clean and quiet. It also has a trendy bar on the 11th floor, overlooking the city. Breakfast is very poor but not worse than any other 3 star hotel in Eastern Europe. Overall it was a very pleasant experience to stay at Magnus.
