Our family love Spurgine! It is the same like 30 years ago, but for Spurgine it is a merity. Always fresh food-warm doughnuts straight from the kitchen. Spurgine is a bit crowdy on lunch time, but worth to wait! Eat inside, it is fun.

One of e best places in Kaunas, where you can get doughnuts and other pastries the way they were made once your parents or grandparents were young - fresh, tasty and baked on the same day. Interior of this place is not changed for a long time and reminds Soviet Union era, however it's a shame to not visit this place while staying in Kaunas.

After spending some length of time in Kaunas I somehow found this charming place on the last day. As others have mentioned the décor is Soviet-style, meaning real Soviet-style in that apparently nothing has changed in 30 years with the same waitstaff, offerings, etc. That alone would just make it quirky, but somehow they turned out the best doughnuts I've ever had in my life. World's apart from the crap that you get in the west. They're almost hard to describe, but sort of bakery style, straight from the oven, sprinkled with some powdered sugar. Doughnut perfection

There's a perfect place if you want to grab a quick bite in Laisvės alėja, Kaunas. You'll be served very fast and get a fresh warm donough. It's a soviet-fashioned place, so you'll go back in time at least 30 years :)

This is value judgement of one who grew up with the place. It has changed very little since the time in seventies when it was opened. The doughnuts (spurgos - hence spurginė) are still delicious, the chicken stock with assortment of stuffed pies is still nourishing and oh, so dangerous fpor your figure. And the atmosphere still very friendly with the motherly ladies who do not speak much English, alas. Healthy food freaks, calory counters - avoid it at any cost!
