'Portofino' is situated on the ground floor of the Hermis Hotel, and although it is expensive by local standards, it produces some of the best food I've tasted in Lithuania. The menu goes beyond the usual 'pizza + pasta' of other Lithuanian/Italian restaurants, and the service is excellent - a plus in this country. There is an extensive wine list, starting at around 50lt per bottle for imported Italian wines, and a very wide choice of salads, fish, meat, pasta and anitpasti. Waiters speak English and Russian, seating is comfortable and the atmosphere is unhurried and relaxed. Expect to pay around 200 litas for a three course meal with wine and drinks, for two people - expensive by Lithuanian standards but well worth this price.
