I didn't except much and the hotel didn't offer any great surprises. The public parts of the hotel, like the facade, the lobby and the stairway (there was no elevator in the hotel, at least I didn't see one...) were actually quite nice, even a bit precious, but the room itself was a far cry from that. Height of the room was certainly sufficient, but otherwise everything was old or of low quality (like the tv, which had only few channels with blurred image). Balcony was nice but small, and the ramshackle handrail raised concerns about its safety. The bathroom was adequate, but incondite wall was already losing some of its tiles and the tub was uneven. I think the room was also missing air conditioning, but fortunately it wasn't that hot outside.
The breakfast, which was included in the price, wasn't really worth it. I have eaten such Soviet style breakfasts mainly in Russia (and Belarus). They also said that it was served between 7-10 am, but already after 09:30 some food was out of stock (for example, one morning there was no more coffee at that time, untill they finally brought some more after long waiting).
On the positive side, the staff at the reception was friendly and the location of the hotel is great. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants just around the corner. I would say that the hotel sits just in the center of the city.
It was quite cheap, also, so perhaps you can give it a chance...
