We were picked up at our hotel and driven 5 minutes to the Old Town Hall where the tour starts. Since we were the only customers, we ended up having in effect a private tour in a small bus with our charming and very knowledgable young guide, Viktoria, who spoke excellent English. A highlight of the tour was the St. Peter and St. Paul Church, which we probably wouldn't have gone into on our own - and which is a masterpiece of baroque statuary and decoration well worth seeing. In all, there are three stops, and the last part is a short walking tour around the Dawn Gate. This tour is recommended if you don't have much time and want to get a good overview of this extraordinarily beautiful and historical city.

although the billboard mentioned 45LTL in the end we were to pay 75LTL, the young lady who was trying to provide as much info as possible on historical Vilnius and its buildings and its culture was kind and friendly....but her english unfortunately was poor enough to have a few US tourists who asked her to repeat more than once. I did not get all of it but I enjoyed the trip anyway as I did not want to embarass her.....hopefully they change the guide to a more fluent english speaking......really a beautiful and historical city Vilnius is! curious enough is the The Republic of Užupis‎: dont miss it, tour or not.

One of the oldest Jewish communities in Europe , Vilnius is still thriving city with local community active in all atmosphere of Jewish life! The main activities are in Jewish community center in the old city. The beautiful Synagogue is also on the same street. There are a few museums worth visiting too !

Having been to Prague several times, it was a delight to get to Vilnius and find a wonderful Baroque city that is well preserved, being restored, and very cost-effective!
Nice scale of city. You feel very safe. Nice people. They speak English thankfully! We will return!
Oh, and we did not do the City Tour. You can very happily wander around and find your own way. Wikipedia gives a good history.

We went there on a summer week-end and swamm in a lake before visiting the castle and trying the local food. The inside of the castle itself is fairly disappointing, but overall it was a very nice trip
