“Very good hotel with excellent staff.”
Reviewed 15 August 2013

We used the Le Meridien during the Junior World Rowing Championships , we stayed for 5 days and found the accommodation excellent and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is sited on a golf course which seemed to be used very little , I walked a couple of the fairways and they were in excellent condition , clearly not many golfers in Lithuania ! Good hotel that I am intending to use again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the back of the hotel onto the lake , it is very impressive.

I have been checking previous reviews before writing of my own and have to admit that not much I could add here. If you are looking for B&B, golfing experience or need to arrange a big conference near Vilnius, then it is a good choice. I also enjoyed the look of a room key, the breakfast at the hangar, bugs, paid internet and many other things.
But if you have a car, you don't have any inconveniences. The motorway to Vilnius is quite good, even it is under the construction. So, jump into your car and enjoy your dinner in the City.
The only note I could add to previous comments is that it is very difficult to understand what do they write in Russian. Multiple grammar and meaning mistakes in Russian makes impossible to understand what you are going to eat.... I also checked hotel answers in Russian on this page and it is unfortunately same... they use words with different meanings to what they intent to write. But all other things are OK.

As other reviews have noted, the hotel title is a bit misleading: the hotel is somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes drive from Vilnius. Although there is a shuttle bus service to the city, if you are visiting Vilnius to actually see the city, stay somewhere closer.

The building itself is a huge low-profile building set between two lakes, set (literally) right next to the A2 route running NW from Vilnius. Not sure what it was built for, but it does seem rather out of place: there is *nothing* else going on anywhere near the hotel. The proximity of the lakes meant that in August there were quite a few biting bugs around in the early evening: most of the rooms have windows that open with bug-netting across them, so presumably I'm not the first to notice this.

Although it is huge, and (apparently) full, we found the hotel to be eerily quiet most of the time and the excellent spa/gym facilities mostly deserted. The spa used to have a hairdressing service but this appears to have closed down (just bicycles in the still-equipped room now). The hotel has a couple of in-service tennis courts (and a couple that appear to have been abandoned), and these were OK quality and you can hire balls / rackets - but it was expensive, one hour use with equipment costing 90Lt (about GBP20).

The rooms were large, nicely furnished and the ones over looking the lake have a great view.

The front-desk staff were friendly, and helpful. The hotel has an awkward internet regulation system - requiring the frequent typing in of six digit codes that expire seemingly at random. Overly complicated and tedious. There is unrestricted wifi access in the lobby and it is almost easier to sit there than use the password system. Once you are connected though, the internet connection is pretty speedy.

Catering appears to be the weakest area for the hotel. As others note, breakfast is served in a hanger-like room to a standard low-budget formula. What you get is OK, but range of choice quite limited. Evening meals are either in the restaurant or an outside barbecue by one of the lakes. The restaurant is expensive and has a short menu for a hotel of this scale.

The outside barbecue has a tiny menu (I think ten items in total). Both serve good tasting food, but are expensive. The outside barbecue ("Bora Bora") has its tables on grass-roofed pontoons extending out into the lake. Great for the view / experience, but a (biting) bug-fest after dark: eat here during early evening when the huge (and well fed) Swift population entertain with acrobatic flying and keep the bug count down.

We got the impression that the hotel management were trying to make the best of an awkward hand - there is simply not enough to do on-site (unless you play golf) to come to stay just at the hotel, but it is too far from anywhere else to make it a first choice location for any other reason.

So, an OK place to stay if you have good reason and a car. Eat elsewhere and if you are susceptible bring plenty of bug repellent...

Room Tip: Try and get a room facing the lake.

Thank You very much for your detailed review!
We appreciate all your remarks and comments.
Also we are happy to know that you valued our food quality and service highly.
We are constantly working to improve our products and services and your feedback is very helpful.
The hotel is built by the highway to have fast and easy access from the city, as hotel has the largest choice conference and banqueting facilities in Vilnius as well as the Championship PGA design 18 hole golf course. The hotel concept is that in only 20 minute drive from the city center, you can reach complete private setting, in the middle of beautiful nature, away from the city. We are proud to mention, that this year hotel is celebrating 20 years’ anniversary. We are constantly developing and renovating to keep up with the expectations of our guests.
For our guests we offer complimentary shuttle to the city center 5-6 times per day, to be able to combine quiet hideaway with city experience.

The hotel itself is located approx. 20 minutes drive from Vilnius. The surrounding of the hotel is really nice (except the motorway) with great views from the windows. The hotel itself seems to be huge. Probably excellent place for one-two day conferences, etc. Rooms are decent, but still asking for some up-to-date refurb. Funny thing - probably one of a very few hotels I've seen in the recent years where old school key was used instead of the card-key. On top of it we have free of charge parking, decent breakfast (although served in the place that looks like adopted in the last-minute for the purpose). Generally nice place, but if you are not playing golf, probably should look for something in the Vilnius itself.

By the way... very friendly and helpful staff :)

However some of the details, like room keys are not renovated yet, but are scheduled to resume in the near future.
Looking forward to seeing you in our hotel and sending all the best regards from Lithuania.

This is my first ever review for a hotel.
I felt like I had to share my experience as I have only just got back and was very impressed.

First of all we had two rooms booked, but at last minute we had to cancel the second room so only two of us ended up going. Instead of losing the money the hotel allowed us to spend this room as credit. This was a nice touch as they could have just refused as it was pay up front.

From the moment I got there the staff made me feel very welcome.
A special mention to the lovely Manager, the pretty receptionist with the good humour and the guy working night shift who gave us good advise about Lithuania.
It is the first time I have been impressed with staff at a hotel and I think that was due to their qualities in customer service and general personalities.
So thanks to all of you lot who made our trip memorable.

The golf course is fantastic. I couldn't believe that so few people were playing. They really need to venture into this golf breaks thing a bit more as it would be very popular.
The golf course was the hardest I have played much to the amusement of the golf receptionist everytime I asked to buy balls.

Only downside was the bar could of been a bit more inviting (Cosy) and the place felt so empty.
But this didn't really effect our trip and we would love to come back one day.

If you like golf or fancy a relaxing time stay at this hotel, get to know the staff and you will love it.

It's normally not worth reviewing such chain hotel but on this occasion might be worth it as the service and our stay was little bit puzzling.

We booked their golf package for 3 nights and 2 rounds of golf. Package was great value and we enjoyed the golf. The course is excellent. Basically this is a run of the mill Le Meridien hotel, maybe a little bit modest on Le Meridien scale. All hotel facilities are in good in condition and service is pretty good. But... there were a few things which made us think afterwards why do they chose to do things that way.

- The hotel was almost empty but they separated our group to two floors and gave rooms facing the highway when rooms facing the lake seemed to be empty.
- Upon arrival receptionist were not fully aware of our second room reservation.
- Hotel continued to be very quiet during the weekend and we asked for a couple of hours extension on our last day. It was not possible as there was a big group coming. Again hotel had dozens and dozens of free rooms. We never saw the group coming in as we waited the whole afternoon for our transportation to airport.
- Why advertise free shuttle to town when it leaves you at least 2 km from the centre of Vilnius?
- Booked airport transportation from the hotel on arrival and notified about our golf equipment. Thought it was pricy but on the other hand we should get hassle free hotel bus to the resort. No hotel bus, there was normal taxi waiting at the airport and driver had no knowledge of our large luggage. He barely got it stuffed in the car. Upon leaving the hotel the same taxi to the airport was considerably cheaper, booked and paid to the hotel the same way as on arrival. Why two prices?
- Minibars were empty
- The second 9-hole course was not maintained at all. Why advertise it on the web site?

Some good things too:
- Breakfast was modest but as there was not many guests it's understandable. Everything on offer was very good though.
- Special thanks to the night receptionist for good service and tips.
- We ate in all three restaurants and food was good although pricy compared to downtown but not too expensive.
- Booking taxi from hotel to downtown and back is cheapest option.

Tip for golfers:
The course is designed for buggies. If you chose to walk be prepared for long walk from the hotel and between the holes.

Dear Mr. Niko,
Thank you for the review and warm words as well as comments.
Please, accept our apologies regarding the inconveniences you experienced.
However we can ensure you, that all our hotel guests are provided with the accommodation in the rooms, which category is not lower than the one according the package purchased.
We also will take in to consideration your remarks regarding the golf course (9hole) and will ensure the proper appearance of it.

What’s concerning the shuttle bus – it stops in the city centre, not in the old town. This is important also for our business traveler and guests, who desire to access the shopping centers. It’s not actually far from the Old town and really reachable by walk along the bridge and central avenue. Or public transport as well taxi services can be an option.

Regarding the transfers – we are providing this service in cooperation with the Taxi companies and always trying to provide proper car type, comfortable for the quests and suitable for luggage. The prices are different according the type of the car and destination.

In conclusion we must notice, that all the remarks we are receiving are essential, despite we are chain hotel.
Thank you one more time – you and all review writers are helping us to improve and become more comfortable and kind to our guests.
Hope to see you again at Le Méridien Vilnius and The V Golf Club!

First tip, this hotel is not in Vilnius. The clue is in the address, "Vilnius County", some 20 kilometres outside the city. That means you either pay a fortune in cab fares, or hire a car. It also means a very early alarm call when you need to get to the airport.
I stayed here on business as the city was full with conventions, and my office struggled to find a room for me. It was fine, but far from ideal. The hotel reminds you of the sort of giant white elephants usually built with aid money in parts of the developing world. It is a monster of a place, and utterly characterless as a result. The staff are welcoming and efficient, in a corporate kind of way, though check in took longer than it should have done. The rooms are very generous, with views over the parkland that is this hotel's redeeming feature. Everything is clean and modern and works well. It's classic bland international hotel. The business centre is a let down. Small with expensive internet and often with a queue of people waiting to use it. The main evening restaurant is an airy, conservatory space and the a la carte was reasonable, but - again - it's a charmless environment. Breakfast is served in a function room the size of an aircraft hangar. People could come to this hotel and be lost for years!
This is a place for bus parties, out-of-town conventions and golfing weekends. If you want to experience the charming and interesting city, don't come here.

Dear Guest,
Thank You for the response. We really appreciate your opinion and we are glad to hear, that you liked the rooms and evaluated our efforts to provide top quality services for our guests.
Yes, our hotel is not central, but we are offering flexible schedule of free hotel shuttle bus to the city centre. However our position allows us to offer unique possibility to combine business and leisure in beautiful surroundings either to play golf on exclusive PGA Golf course.
We are looking forward to solve the inconvenience regarding the internet. What’s concerning the size of the breakfast room - our hotel is really ready to accept large groups, provide services for conferences, conventions. Therefore we have to ensure enough space for comfort of our guests, Anyway, we are doing our best to keep the place cosy and quiet .
The architecture of the hotel’s building is unique and we will be are happy to meet new development plans in the future.

Thank you also for the warm words about our city.
Yes, Vilnius is charming and we are proud to welcome visitors from all over the world as well as invite them to Le Méridien Vilnius.
