We stayed at Grata Hotel for 4 nights. It's about 20 minutes from city center. But you will walk after a really very good breakfast ! For me it was importrant.... Rooms are big and nice. You can feel safely in the neighbourhood .

Reviewed 15 May 2014

My wife and stayed at this Hotel for 1 night in May 2014.
before I write the review I will give some travel tips.
1. The exchange rate for "Lits" in Vilnius was £1 = 4.16. In England the day before I went the best I could get was £1 = 3.75. locals told us they are going over to the Euro next year (date unknown) so if you are going before be careful.
2. We went with Ryan Air. The problem we found was that the Ryan Air flight was quite late at night (landing around 10PM). We wanted to have more time in Vilnius so we caught the flight to Kaunas, which landed at 11.15. Walked out of the Airport and got on the bus to Vilnius which cost 35 lits (about £9) and we were in Vilnius one hour later. The bus stopped at the Train Station in the middle of the city or The Airport. We therefore then had the whole afternoon as well as the next day to look around Vilnius, only for the cost of £9 extra. I had emailed the Hotel and they told me that you could catch 2 buses at the Airport that stopped close to the Hotel. 88 and a 3G. This only cost 70p (17p for penshioners) so we got dropped at the airport and then caught the bus back to the Hotel. It is about 15 mins from the Airport to The Hotel. If you decide to do this email the Hotel and they will tell you where to get off. It is very easy. Some Brits we spoke to in The Hotel had caught a Cab and it cost then £4 from The Airport (20 Lits).
Now onto the Hotel.
It is a big Hotel, very well located. About 20 mins walk from where all the action is (The Old Town).
Check in was prompt and both Receptionists spoke very very good English. When I went later to get some info, the Receptionists had changed over and the new 2 also spoke very good English. They told us all about the Hotel facilities and also where and when breakfast was served.
The room was big. It had what can be described as a "Queen" size bed. So big it needed to bed spreads. There was a fridge, good wardrobe space and a TV. The TV was not a flat screen, but the old style. It had many stations, but surprisingly did not have BBC World News. There were 2 or 3 English speaking Stations including an English speaking station based in Paris? and 2 American ones. The shower was excellent although not a purpose built shower one in a bath, but nevertheless excellent.
We both slept well and looked forward to breakfast. This really was superb. It catered for all types of people. The sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms for English. a superb selection of cheeses meats and salds for the Europeans. And then for the healthy eaters there was fresh fruits, yoghurts and 3 fruit juices. Fresh Coffee 6/7 teas and a selection of tasty pastries made for a very pleasant breakfast experience.
My one and only complaint (this is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) is that the curtains did not meet in the middle, so the light came streaming in earl;y in the morning. This does not bother my wife but it does me. Now before you say aargh he did not get a good nights sleep. I did, as I always carry a very good blackout eye patch wherever I go and you could point a spotlight at me and it would not bother me, but it has to be mentioned as it happened.
I like to write it exactly as it happens. It would not not stop me going there again and indeed I look forward to visiting Vilnius and the Grata Hotel again soon.

We stayed at Grata Hotel in spring 2013. It's situated in 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of the city, nice, clean and quiet place for a short romantic trip to Vilnius. And I'd reccomend to take breakfast there.

Breakfast was very good and heaps of options.
Room was fine and quite large.
Bathroom also large.
Definitely need a fan for the room as there is only a door and you cannot leave this open at night for airflow.
Receptionist helpful but not caring.
Not close to downtown but once you know the area it is close by bus and the main bus depot.

The hotel is located a bit far from the city center, but it is big and modern, very comfortable rooms, clean and with a very good price. The rooms are relatively bigger than the european standard and they were very clean. Not a lot of fancy gadgets in the bathroom or in the room itself, but the quality was decent. It is a good hotel to stay if you need to get around the city or in the city itself - but you should consider that you'll need to take a bus or walk about 15 mins to the city center. Recommended if you need to get to Litexpo - there's a bus stop at 4 mins from the hotel that can get you there quicker than if you stay in the city center. Ladies at the reception were very kind and helpful. Bar closes at midnight.

Room Tip: Try not to get rooms at the last floor or in the underground one.
