If you're backpacking around and need a bed - and not much else, this is fine. No A/C was huge in our July heat. Bolted window shut, so absolutely no air flow. Hated coming back to our room when all we would do is wash up and sweat.

Connected to a much nicer facilitie/hotel, but felt a bit like second class citizens in the City Hotel part. My advice - pay a little more if you can.

I seemed to be the only adult guest in this hotel. All neighbouring rooms were filled with Russian children who visited each other, knocked at theirs doors, clapped their doors and talked in front of my room all night. Since the reception is in another house 150 m away, nobody could help. I did not sleep a minute. The noisy main road and the bus stop in front of my window who would normally have prevented me from sleeping were nothing against this torture.
The reception staff was very kind but apologized with "This are children!"

Room Tip: Ask for a room with window to the back side of the hotel.

City Hotel claims to be part of a new style of "unique hotels"... the only thing unique is that it's not a hotel. In fact, it's barely a dorm facility.

City Hotel's owner figured they could call this place a hotel because they own a real hotel 1/4 mile down the street. When the taxi drops you off at this dump, you have no idea where to go. All you see is an ugly door with graffiti around it. Then, you drag your bags down the frozen tundra that is a Tallinn sidewalk to their other hotel, where you get your key.

Then you check into your dorm room back down the street. My room had a perpetual smell of spoiled eggs. The bathroom was a disgusting orange color and didn't feel clean. After two days, no one offered me new towels or even picked up. There's no sign to ask someone to clean the room, either. Apparently they just don't bother.

The bed is a disaster. Like a cheap-o hotel would, their "double bed" room is merely two single beds not wide enough for an army ant to sleep on pushed together. That means if you try and roll into the center of the bed, the two beds will come apart and you'll slouch in between them toward the floor. I actually had my computer fall to the floor and almost break because of this.

Service here is atrocious. Well, I guess there actually is no service. The front desk at the real hotel down the street won't help with much of anything. The dorm room that is this fake "hotel" has NO services. No laundry room, no vending machine, no nothing. It's actually worse than a dorm room because not only does your room stink, have no amenities, no climate control, etc., you don't get the low-rent services most cheap hotels offer. If you want your laundry washed, you have to walk 20 minutes (so they say) to a laundry facility.

That brings up the last issue: location. The location sucks. Sure, you can walk to Old Town in 10-12 minutes - not horrible - but there is literally nothing around this hotel. There is one hotel across the street that serves $20 hamburgers, but doesn't have bottled drinks to take away for any price. You might as well stay in a rural cottage on a farm somewhere, because this hotel is near nothing.

Of course, considering it snows in Tallinn as late as mid-May, you'll freeze your kazoo off just trying to get anywhere.

Not that that makes your room any more pleasant. The room - and the whole "hotel" - is a bit chilly at night (when you can't walk anywhere because it's -10 degrees half the year), but the huge window lets in all kinds of sun in the morning... enough to make you feel like you're boiling to death. There are no climate controls to change these extreme temperatures in your room.

While this hotel is somewhat cheap by Tallinn standards, it's a rip-off by Baltic standards. I spent a few dollars more in Riga and stayed in a rather nice place right in the action. It was my favorite week in the Baltics, compared to the utter depression that is this dump.

I almost feel like some criminal will throw a brick through the poorly insulated, monster of a window that overlooks some decrepit parking lot behind this flophouse. At least then I could get put out of my misery, and some Estonian junkie could take my Macbook and buy himself a nice stash.

Room Tip: Book a room in a real hotel. If you prefer the dorm-style living of City Hotel, go back to college a...

In general the hotel is ok. Location is perfect. near old town. We paid 50 EUR per night for triple room, which is good value for money. the room was ok, but too small for 3 people. The reception is locatad 2 min walk at another hotel von Stackelberg, which is a very nice 4 star hotel. Katya at the reception was very friendly and helpfull. other staff were also friendly. For 8 EUR we had a breakfast there, which is not that amaizing but ok and worse it. what we liked a lot is thet at out hotel at underground floor there was a sitting area where you can make a tea or coffee and use glasses and cups. It looks like a bar and we were alone there. nobody disturbed us and we had a good time. We would recommend this hotel for other travellers. But we aware that if you want to use spa facilities or massage you should book it in advance otherwise you it will be fully booked as it happened with us. We only managed to get 1.5 h sauna with jacuzzi on the last day. Its nice but very small. It seems like at the same time there can be up to 6-7 persons.

Location is good - very close to the old town. Budget hotel, but I had all what I needed - big, clean room with basic furniture, own bathroom. Good price for what is offered, and you don't pay for services what are not needed - room cleaning and towels changing every day.
What I did not like - TV remote control did not work, Wifi password didn't work. If your room is on the front, it is very noisy. Reception is at the next hotel.

This 4 star was right in the old town and very convenient. Upon check-in, we were given an option to upgrade to a larger room for a daily charge, but the room originally booked was big enough anyway. The bathroom was a decent size too, very clean and modern.

The only thing I wasn’t too happy with was:
- the toilet inside the room was a bit too high, so not ideal for petite people…
- wifi was not free. I would have though if you’re already paying a higher rate for a 4 star hotel, they could at least provide free wifi.

Overall, a nice hotel in a very convenient location.

I was visiting Tallinn with two friends for a weekend and we stayed in a three bed bedroom in this hotel.

Checking in and getting the key needed to be done at the Stackelberg hotel next door.

Room was clean and modern looking. Three beds were ready for us which made the room seem a bit small. Television was working.

Shower was clean and had hot water. Shower was made to accomodate wheel chair.

All in all great value for the money we paid.

Breakfast was not included but for 8 euros you could have excellent breakfast at the Stackelberg hotel next door.

There was a construction site next door where they started to work on saturday morning at 7:00. This gave a lot of noise which kept me awake. It was good that they were not working there on sunday morning.

Location was excellent, just a very short walk into the old town.

So if you are on a budget and you just need a clean place to sleep when you are visiting Tallinn this is a good place.
