Hotel Rocca al Mare is a small and nice suburban hotel in Tallinn. It is located about 7 km from the center - you can easily get to the center by very cheap public transportation in 10 minutes. The location itself is beautiful: peaceful residential area, sea view in most rooms and a big modern shopping mall some 300 meters away. Also the Tallinn zoo (worth a visit!) and the Estonian open air museum (not really a thrill to me) are very close.

The hotel itself is small and well kept: friendly service, nice but small rooms, morning sauna + swimming pool. Sleep quality should be good. We have stayed there many times and sometimes there was a wedding reception taking place in the restaurant but even that did not bother too much.

Breakfast is somewhat confusing. The selection is OK (not as plentiful as in some places). Their process of running it seems very unprofessional. They are constantly refilling something a little - a waitress brings 6 glasses and then she comes back pouring a liter of coffee in the thermos. Also, the warm dishes + coffee should be hot, not lukewarm.

They have now rated it with 3 stars (was 4 sometimes) - that is more honest taking the size of rooms + breakfast. Despite this, the hotel offers a good value for the money, is nice and clean and conveniently located for our purposes to visit Tallinn. We have stayed there at least six times and will continue doing that.

Room Tip: Sea view room, without carpet

Somewhat surprised by the tight quarters in the double room (only one chair at the desk) although the bathroom was well equipped with modern fixtures and hairdrier included. The room key was odd, no identifier and no clue as how to swipe it until the helpful front staff came to our rescue. No ice machine for those used to that sort of thing from North America but ice was readily supplied from the bar for the asking. The breakfast was plentiful, coffee hot and fresh, crispy fresh buns, assortment of cold cuts, omelette, cereals, fruit salad, quiche, gravlax, cake (in lieu of muffins) and crepes with conserves and cream! What more could you ask for? Porridge? There was that as well!

Nice and clean place. Staff very friendly and helpful. But its a little far from the city centre if you are in Tallinn for shopping and restaurants. Also, the breakfast was very disapointing. Coffee old and cold, and not very much choices. But eating out is cheap in Tallinn, so no problem really.

Me and my wife had a wedding night reservation in Rocca al Mare Hotel. We had a Junior suite but when we arrived we had a very nice surprise. For the price of Junior suite we got Superior. View from the "window wall" was amazing. Best choise for this money. Only breakfast was dissapointing. Small choiseof food and not very good coffee.

A cozy little hotel. Quiet green area. Excellent transport links to the city center. Sea 100 m, beach-2.5 km, -1 km Zoo, ethnographic (Estonian village life), an open air museum-1.5 km, a shopping mall, 500 meters. Clean, spacious, quiet room with a park view. Pool sauna whirlpool spa excellent! Responsive hotel staff and restaurant. Chic breakfast: pancakes, cheese, salmon, herring, pastries, fruit, etc. Bicycle beside lighted bicycle trails along the sea. Free parking for 20 cars.Taxi Bus Station 6 - 10 euros. Everything is two times cheaper than in the center of the city. Surely come again!

Minuses: it would be good to have kettle in the room. You must switch on hydro pool (it is there but doesn't work). They can put a wooden lattice in the sauna. They could put water cooler in the locker room. It would be nice to have disposable paper seats in Sauna
