“Very good for a relaxing weekend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2013

We got lost on our way to the hotel, so I really wanted to get the room fast to take a nap. However, it took us twenty minutes to get the room because the staff was really slow! There was a long queue and it wasnt moving at all. When we finally arrived to the room, I was very happy. It was perfectly clean, warm and comfortable bed. Free wifi was also working perfectly.
We visited the cafe Madamoiselle which was located near the reception. It was very good and the pastries were delicious, but the girl working on the cashier wasnt too friendly. Its slightly more expensive than normal cafes but I found it nice that there was a cafe in the hotel itself.
The spa was a wonderful surprise! It had four different saunas and I loved the salt sauna! Although it was weekend it wasnt too crowded and there was even a bar.
We asked advice how to get to a restaurant but they told us the wrong way and it turned out to be somewhere else. But when I asked for the route from the reception, they googled it and even marked it to our map, so I think it was just a mistake..
Overall it was wonderful place, perhaps the best one in Tallinn and the spa is really good.

Good hotel, very nice and helping staff.
Spa and fitness in house.
4 restaurants (Russian/Asian/Cuban theme and Lucnhroom) plus 2 bars in house.
breakfast could be a little bit more variety.
Close to the Old Town (15 minutes walk).

Room Tip: On 7th floor the rooms have no carpet but laminate floors (in case of allergy)

Clean and comfortable hotel, well situated at walking distance of the government buildings and the historical centre.
Nice but rather uninspired rooms with free WiFi (of course, it's Estonia)...
Breakfast buffet and atmosphere in the breakfast room could be better...

Room was very spacious. Excellent free in-room Wi-Fi. Restaurant selection not too good, best was Cuban Bar. No nearby restaurants or convenience stores so you are beholden to hotel amenities. Very close to Upper Old Town (2 long blocks up the hill to the east) but no restaurants there, only in Lower Old Town.

My group and myself had been at a similar hotel the day before but had to move because no rooms available for the next day. The Meriton is 4 times the price of the other spa hotel and of no better quality.

Breakfast was a stressful nightmare with swarms of ppeople falling on the few seats available, no staff direction, no cutlery or crockery, just help yourself and fend for yourself. Went back to my room to get a cup of tea. No sweeteners or milk / creamer. Button fell off my shirt - no sewing kit (keep in mind this is a five star at nearly E300 per night).

Told on check in that we had been upgraded to suites - errr NO. Normal room like any other Hilton etc. Sure we didn't pay for extra and we sure didn't get it.

Nice deli. Cant comment on the spa services - never used them. Maybe great.

Wouldn't come again on business. May sound like pettiness but I cannot get over how expensive it is compared to the other spa hotel and how poor it was in comparison.

Room Tip: If you go on holiday be prepared to join in with the crowding masses, no discrete little love nest t...

All the staff we met was very friendly and kind and helpful. The room, 7th floor, was perfect and stylish with an exellent view. It is so admirable that they use traditional Estonian style of carpets in the corridors! The spa has many kinds of relaxing abilities. I had my hair cut in an extraordinary way although they had a stiff timetable. The breakfast is ok and the lovely white cafe "Mademoiselle" offers so many delicious products both for lunch and coffee break. The tiny souvenier shop offers beautiful modern estonian design. It seems they have an old part and a new part in this huge hotel. My story is about the new one.

Having travelled all around the world, this is one of the worst hotels in which we have stayed in. It is a very disappointing end to our Baltic holiday having stayed in good hotels in Vilnius & Riga. Other than the young man who spent 3 years in new york, the staff were all surly and unhelpful, not a good recommendation for Estonia. Management need to realise that tourists often gauge a city on staff at the hotel in which they stay. Thank goodness that the staff in the restaurants in the old town were pleasant, smiling & gave great service(thank you trip advisor). The room was small, a bathroom you couldn't swing a cat in), the lid of the toilet seat was dirty when we checked in, no shampoo conditioner or soap (only the soap dispenser on the wall which I loathe) and the tea cups werent washed. Breakfast was very ordinary. The location is ok, just outside the old town. And I have never stayed in a hotel where you have to pay to use the pool (10 euros!!)
