“A good hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2010

Arrival at the hotel would have been nice if we would be welcomed. Receptionists were young and a little unkind. As we left, the situation was quite different.

We booked well in advanced a two night stay for 3 people at this hotel as the pictures on their site showed a really nice and trendy hotel with spa. Imagine the suprise when it came clear to us that the hotel actually has 2 sides, one new and one old...guess which one we stayed at...The room looked like something from a motell, dark, old and trashy, BIG dislike! and so disappointing! Would we had known this, we would have booked ourselves into another hotel. The receptionist and the piccolo guy where about the only nice people at the hotel as the spa receptionist as well as the receptionist at the wellness-center were both arrogant and unfriendly. The nice ladies who actually did all the spa-treatments were lovely and very nice, as again the haridressers were less nice and seemed to be speaking bad about their customers in their own mothertongue. Maybe we were too young(late twenties) to be conidered as customers that should get a friendly service I don't know, but it was an awful stay and not the relaxing and happy weekend we had booked us in for.

I have stayed here several times and have enjoyed this hotel. I have recommended this hotel before but what I have now discovered is avoid it like the plague in the height of tourist season. Buses and buses and more buses parked outside waiting to herd everyone on board after breakfast and take the blue rinse brigade on their daily travels. Avoid the mayhem of breakfast tourist standard food if you would eat breakfast at a normal time. Try getting a lift during this mad rush hour and after the hectic experience of being a tourist or businessman in Tallinn for the day - try finding a locker or a space in the pool. By the way...you have to take your own towel as the Spa charges a rental few to use their towels.

Obviously not all the rooms have the same new standard, but mine was fairly new, with modern furniture, nice bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, though a little crowded, but that is to be expected during the summer holidays. Location is also fine, the old town is within walking distance.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights and were impressed by how trendy and clean this spa hotel was. The general atmosphere of this new hotel was good.

The rooms were clean, nicely decorated and very quiet. You could not hear any noise from the other rooms or the street. On the minus side, the rooms are quite small.

There is a big spa with several different pools, jaccuzzis and saunas that is free of charge for the hotel guests (depending on the package you paid for). It's really relaxing and one of the best things in the hotel. They have an aromatic sauna, steam bath, normal sauna and salt sauna. For an extra charge you can also try the infrared sauna. The gym has all the basic equipment and is included in the room fee.

The hotel has several bars and restaurants. Especially the café in the hotel is great. They bake their own delicious cakes and rolls that are sold for half the price between 9 pm and 10 pm.

The beauty salon is the best thing in the whole hotel. The staff is very professional and the treatments are extremely good!

The only two negative things with the hotel is the location and service. The hotel is located a 10 minute walk from the old town, but on the wrong side of it. All the shopping malls and restaurants are on the other side of the old town. There are buses that go to the city center though.

The service is not optimal either. One can tell that the hotel is new because things are not running smoothly. The front desk / reception is overworked and there is always a long line in front of it. The breakfast buffet is good but the staff doesn't have the time to clear tables, bring new food or clean utensils / plates / etc. to the breakfast room. The staff seem to be quite young and inexperienced and seem to concentrate on the wrong things... But most are quite friendly and service minded (with the exception of the spa staff)...

We arrived quite late into the evening and checked very quickly into our room on the 4th floor of the hotel. Our room was a standard room and was adequately furnished and had a safe, mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities. Unfortunately no milk is provided in the room for anyone wishing milk in their tea. Coffee sachets are the 3 in 1 type.
The hotel is well positioned and only minutes walk from the old town.
This is a large hotel with a total of 465 rooms. Several restaurants are availale to choose from and additionally the Cafe Madamoiselle is ideal for light meals throughout the day. An excellent array of very tempting cakes and pastries are also availabe in the Cafe Madamoiselle and are not to be missed.
Additional facilities in the hotel include a Casino, Sauna with Whirlpool, Conference Centre, Wellness Spa, Fitness Centre and a Beauty Salon.
The Reception Area of the hotel is quite attractive and welcoming.
Tallin is a very interesting city to visit and the Old Town a delight to explore.
Overall this is a very good hotel and we had a very enjoyable stay.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone visiting Tallin.
