This is a funky, original hotel in a very old building. This means that some rooms, like mine, are oddly shaped -- mine looked like a hallway -- but the fixtures are lovely, the internet rocks, and the staff are helpful. The breakfast is generous but I did hear some people complain there wasn't any cereal. No, but there was pickled herring and sour cream! Hello! You're in Northern Europe! My only problem with the hotel, which is minor, was that my room overlooked the courtyard restaurant which was often full of VERY loud, quite drunk tourists. Luckily I brought earplugs.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the courtyard.

Economy single room for senior. Price/quality ratio very good. Reception staff is professional and pleasant. Buffet breakfast is very good. Location could not be better. The room is small, but who stays there longer than necessary for a shower and a few hours sleep while being in the beautiful old town of Tallinn?

Stayed here for 3 nights in June 2011. Reception friendly but not the best English. Got a free upgrade to suite - very romantic with wooden beams and desk etc. The hotel was perfectly located, literally 5mins from town square. The room was really quaint but was 2 single beds together not a double like we'd hoped. The breakfast was only OK too but the location really was perfect!

We stayed there in May and we loved the hotel. It was very clean and comfy, right in the middle of old town. We stayed in the economy room, what is a bunk bead (two beds), and they lost one point for not being clear about what the economy room entails (we discovered that reading reviews here). But, it was very cheap and served us fine.

Just be aware that the room IS very small, what can cause trouble to some people or if you are traveling with a lot of luggage. We were in Estonia for just two days, so it worked perfect for us. A good perk is that you can use the facilities of the other Meriton hotels, we didn't have time to use the sauna and pool, but we did use the computer facilities for free.

Definitely would stay there again!

We wanted this as a quiet romantic weekend within the old town of Tallinn. We booked rooms in February & I emailed 4 days before we arrived to confirm, but was told on arrival by the unconcerned receptionist that the hotel had been double booked & there were no rooms. The best they could offer was a room in the 457 roomed sister hotel Meriton Grand Conference, outside the city walls & a 15min walk away. Totally not what we wanted! I got the impression this happens a lot & we got bumped. It might be a nice hotel but we never got to find out.

Dear Guest,

thank you very much for taking the effort for writing a review and for your honest feedback. Firstly, i would like to apologies for you having experienced an overbooking situation and what you called an unpleasant encounter with our receptionist.
Overbooking situations which cannot be handled by keeping the guest in our property are rare and i am surprised you got the impression that this happens a lot as we do have quite a large team "behind the curtains" managing to make sure that guests receive a wonderful stay in our hotel when they book it in advance.
While i do believe that the solution of staying in the Meriton Grand Conference & SPA hotel is quite good considering all the facilities, spa, restaurants, location (while you mentioned it is 15 minutes away from the city, it is actually in the very center of the city and only 5 monutes walk away from the central point of the old town) and large rooms that you receive, i completely understand that it is not the "romantic" experience you had hoped for.
Therefore i would kindly ask you to email me directly at michael@meritonhotels.com and we can further discuss what i could offer you to make sure you do enjoy the experience you hoped for.

kindest regards and my apologies once again for your inconvinience.

Best,
Mihail Burõhh

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights in October 2010. It is located inside the old town. The hotel itself was great value for money, considering it's central location and the free spa at it's sister hotel down the road that we enjoyed on two of the days as it was freezing outside.
We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast, was a good start to the morning.

The hotel is in perfect location, everything in the old town is within easy walking distance. The hotel is simple but adequate, room was small but clean and had view of the cobbled streets. Breakfast was buffet style and had all the neccesarry parts (scrambled egg, sausage, toast, cereal, herrings etc).
Staff were friendly and helpful.
