Cute, small hotel, situated in so good area in Old town. But room was the smallest ever seen. No space to sit anywhere except in the bed or in the toilet bowl. No conditioning made sleeping unpossible but this hot weather isn't very often... breakfast was tasty and variety enough.

This hotel is conveniently located in the old town of Tallinn. My husband and I had booked a room with two single beds but were instead given two single rooms with a connecting door between them, so we both had our own bathroom which was quite luxurious. The rooms were nice and tidy, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were modern and very clean. Both rooms had a closet for clothes. The wi-fi connection in the rooms worked well. The only negative thing was that there is no air conditioning in the rooms but I suppose it cannot be easily installed in these old buildings. Our rooms faced the Pikk street (the reception is on the Lai street side) and there were restaurants below with smoking customers so we could not have the windows open all the time and the rooms were quite hot (it was almost 30 degrees Celsius outside). The breakfast was nice and there was plenty to choose from. The service at the reception was friendly and we were able to leave our luggage at the reception after check-out at no extra charge. There is a cafe on the Pikk street side of the building with very nice cakes and pastries.

Make sure you get a room on the hotel's inner yard (preferably not one of those on the ground floor) rather than on the street and you will get full value from this hotel, right in the middle of the old town. Rooms are clean and well equipped, staff welcoming and very attentive, and breakfast is ample. Cars have to be parked a 10-minute walk away but you can drop bags at the hotel door. Other reviewers are right in questioning the hotel's claim to 4 stars (maybe some confusion with the superior other Meritons in Tallinn) but if you don't expect too much, you won't be disappointed.

I booked an economy room in a 4 stars hotel with Booking.com, but I found a store-room.( n.° 308)
No closet, no place for luggage, no table, no phone to call reception, no towels, no place to put our things. luggage had to be open under the bed. Bed was apt for dolls, with invisible mattress.
The bathroom had a washball like those you find in train.
When I spoke to the receptionist of the hotel, she was very impolite and unkind. Nobody offered us something different., nor a coffee.
Beware, the room is very expensive, because it is adapted to a hostel, not a 4* HOTEL.
I took photos of the room and sent to booking.com for my question
Horrible experience.

Room Tip: if you want this hotel, spend money for a nice room, otherwise, change your mind

Dear Guest,

I thank you very much for staying in the Meriton Old Town Garden Hotel. I am sorry to hear about your experience in the hotel and wanted to give you some clarification.

The building where the hotel is situated is extremely valuble and dates many centuries ago. As it is part of Tallinn's midevil history, it is protected by the Cultural Heritage foundation here in Tallinn. In short this means that many of the walls, doors and other elements of the building are protected and cannot be changed. Therefore, we have a few rooms in the hotel which are much smaller in size than the rest of the hotel and to preserve history, we are not allowed to change them.
These rooms in no way influence the general rating of the hotel as we did everything on our part to communicate the fact that these are in fact Economy Rooms. We use the name in the official room category, we put up all the pictures on the websites showing the beds, the bathroom etc, where avaialble we also write the size of the room to make sure people really understand the type of room they are booking. It is also always the cheapest room available in the hotel.
Even though the rate is always lower, all guests staying in the economy rooms still get to enjoy the same breakfast as all guests, use all the hotel facilities including a free whole day SPA in our sister hotel.
With all its facilities and all standard and higher category rooms, the hotel indeed is a very strong 4 star. I apologize if our effort to communicate all info regarding the economy hotel was not informative enough during your booking process and we will look for ways to improve that.

As I received your comment from many different sites and even by email through other contacts, I hope it is satisfactory for you that i only post my answer on this one site.

I apologize for the inconvinience and truly hope you will come back to the hotel. Feel free to write us an email and we will try to get you a fantastic room on your next visit

best
Mihail

We thought we had booked into a 4 star hotel in the Old Town of Tallinn after traveling through Europe for 5 weeks with 2 suitcases and were seeking good accommodation in a lovely city. Unfortunately we found ourselves in a hotel that would have difficulty in achieving a one star rating. The location of the hotel is ideal to visit this city. However, the tiny room, a bed that consisted of two singles pushed together that had a very thin (about 75 mm) mattress and an inadequate bathroom / toilet. The bathroom was about 1 metre wide with a hand basin that could barely hold 2 litres of water with a glass shelf which prevented you from wetting your face without the use of a face washer. The shower and toilet were next to each other separated by a plastic curtain.

When you had a shower the whole area became wet needing to be dried by a towel if the toilet was going to be used.

Coffee and tea making facilities were available but were kept on the window sill as there was no other place to keep them. The challenge was to heat the water without wetting the bed or tripping over the kettle on the floor. Hence, we did not use this facility.

The hotel advertised the use of a spa and sauna. They did not tell you that these were located in another part of Tallinn that required a 20 minute walk to reach and that the use of a towel would cost 3 Euros.

Every night we were made to listen to plant equipment across the courtyard as we had to sleep with the window open owing to the warm weather at this time.

We had come to Tallinn specifically to enjoy the Song Festival. Our experience of a wonderful festival was greatly diminished by a hotel (hostel really) during our visit.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel if you want a reasonable room that is quiet and has enough room for two people to b...

We booked this hotel through last minute.com and our booking clearly stated double room. On arrival at ten at night the receptionist asked us who we had booked with and then asked were we aware this was a very small room with bunk beds. When we said no she stated that this was always happening with online bookings and that we needed to pay 15 euros per night to upgrade to a standard room, having travelled all day we did this and will take it up with the company.

The room we ended up in was a very small twin room, so small the beds were end to end... however the hotel is situated slap bang in the old town but surrounded by a courtyard garden so very quiet, spotlessly clean with breakfast included and its own restaraunt literally 30 seconds from the town square.

we expected to have nice room, good service and something extra but our disappointment was huge. First of all we booked the room in a hurry and did not check the facilities - and it was really surprising that there was bunk bed in the room! Never seen something like that expect in hostels where the prices are something different. Stuff offered us little bit bigger room for one night and of course we paid extra for that. We asked next morning bigger room but hotel was fully booked - and receptionist was quite reluctant to do anything. Breakfast was quite ordinary, nothing special. If you have wheelchair it is quite difficult place for you. As well recycling seems to be unknown phenomena at least with your rubbish. Never come back to this hotel.Overprized. The best thing is the location.

Room Tip: never take economy room and standard room is tiny as well. You can keep your luggage in the bathroom
