“Super host, very informative”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

A superb tour, our guide even managed to fend off an aggressive Russian visitor, who tried to liken joining the EU with being invaded. Funny, informative and a great spend of a couple of hours. You'll get a great sense for the city and a little sense of the country while seeing all the major sites and getting a little exercise. There will be suggestions of places to eat and drink if you'd like. Very friendly, worthwhile and the best free tour that we've been on in the Baltic states and Russia.

“Informative and funny walking tour”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

We weren't sure what to expect from Tallinn and were pleasantly surprised by the walking tour. There was a relatively large group on a very hot day, but the enthusiasm, pride, and stories from our guide still made it fun and worthwhile. Our guide had a sarcastic and self deprecating sense of humour while sharing interesting facts about both Tallinn and Estonia as a whole. Despite being a free tour, it is probably one of the most enjoyable city walking tours I have gone on.

“Entertaining, educational and enlightening ”
Reviewed 24 June 2014 via mobile

Hele was our tour guide. She was fantastic peppering facts, anecdotes, and true love of her country into her stories. She made sure to balance the Estonian humor with historical details of the country and people. I felt as if I truly got to know Estonia on this tour.

“Brilliant and free”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

We walked from our cruise ship to the Old Town and went to the Information Centre in the Town Hall Square where we had read on the internet that there were free walking tours from 1200. We were given a map and some general information. Our guide Aureylia met us outside the Tourist Office - she was a young university student reading Cultural Studies with very good English and was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Estonia and she often had some amusing local stories. The group was quite large but she always made sure that we were close to her before she started speaking. We were taken round the Old Town, shown the Russian Cathedral (St Alexander Nevski Cathedral), St Olav Church, Toomkirk, Freedom Monument, and shown many other historic buildings. There were many photo opportunities and the walking tour lasted two hours. We finished in the Town Square where our guide gave some advise as to where there were authentic restaurants for those who wished to try out Estonian food, and other restaurants, shops etc. a very enjoyable tour with lots of interesting information. We then had plenty of time to explore the New Town on our own as well. Not to be missed if you are in Tallin.

Once back on the ship we spoke to others who had taken a paid tour from the ship. They really did not see any more than we did so take heed - make your own way to the Tourist Office in the Town Hall Square and take the free two hour tour.

“Through a local's eyes”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Free tours usually are a great way to see the city, and this one is no exception. The guide (Mairie) took us around the old town for about two hours. With lots of information and fun stories. Because the guides are locals, you really get some useful insiders tips and Estonian thoughts on still-quite-recent history. At the end, you can tip the guide whatever you consider he/she is worth. Definitely recommended! The only thing I missed are more sights in lower town. The majority of the tour is spend in upper town, though I know there is much more to explore down there (as well). But then again... that would probably take up another two hours...
