Owner description: NUKU theatre & museum is the country’s only professional puppet centre. The theatre aims to offer high quality and diverse visual theatre and puppetry to all ages. The museum's main exhibition starts from the very beginning. You can touch air and see what puppetry does to water, fire and earth - the main elements of everything we see. Then, you can visit the Marionette Room, Rod and Glove Puppet Room, Table Puppet Room and Body Puppet Room. What are their stories, how each puppet is moved and how different puppets really are? These are the questions you will find answers to - and of course, you can try them out on your own, too! Alongside theatre puppets we also have mechanical puppets and The Wardrobe of an Actor where you can try on many costumes and wigs... The exhibition also introduces many theatre positions and jobs such as the Artistic Director, Prop Maker, Puppeteer, Stage Hand and Manager, Make-Up Artist, Costume Maker and so on. The building also has a small cafe.

The museum has been recently renewed and there are interesting new technologies in use. The show which is included in ticket price is great, too. Much better thing to do with kids than just wander the streets of Old Town.

I am sure that people can enjoy this museum if they know some of the puppets featured or are interested in general in a puppet theatre.
Sadly, I do not fall into either of these categories and I just did not find it entertaining. The exhibits are well-made and you have the opportunity to see the people (e.g. manufacturing puppets) working "live" (though it did not help that we got there during lunch break).
Overall, we wandered around, just a bit confused and looked for the point of all this - we did not find it.
Not my taste.

Good place to go, if you have free hour in Old Town!

We were here, but didn't feel anything about this museum... All the puppets are Estonian and if you're not from around, it shure isn't fun to go to...

I've passed the building on the street on many occasions being in Tallinn before, but I never could imagine that the Puppet Museum inside the modest building can be so fantastic.

There is more then a dozen separate halls of expositions, including all kinds of interactive fun. You can watch the videos of all puppet shows in a separate room. There are also different topic expositions. E.g. the underground level offers a gloomy room where 'unhappy and scary puppets live'. Even the bathrooms (designed specially for small kids) had some fun pieces inside.

We did not intend to spend much time there but we actually spent more then two hours. They also have a musical puppet show, price for which is included in museum tickets, at 1300 hrs daily, which was a separate piece of fun for everyone on the family. The show is purely musical and puppet one, no words spoken, therefore good for anybody to watch. Also, all notes and announcements are doubled in English.

There is also a decent cafe which offers snacks as well as hot meals.
